King, newcomer to Kings Mountain from Pennsyl vania, has provided us wltlia “York County Farm Women Go To The Kit chen” cookbook which Is ftill of tasty recipes you will enjoy serving to family and friends. CHAFINQDISH MEATBALLS ANDFRANKS Meat Balls 3 lb. ground beef 1 slightly beaten egg 1 large grated onion Salt to taste Sauce 1 bottle chill sauce 1 (10 os.) jar grape jelly Juice of 1 lemon 2 lb. frankfurters, sliced on the diagonal Mix the Ingredients for the meat balls together and ah^>e Into 00 to 60 small balls. Make a sauce of the chill sauce, grape jelly and lemon juice In a large frying pan. Drop meat balls Into simmering sauce. Simmer until brown through. Add the frankfur ters, sliced H Inch thick. Simmer 30 minutes. Finished dish may be cooled and frozen. To serve, defrost and reheat slowly. Serve from chafing dish with cocktail picks. This Is a delicious dish. -oOo- COKE SALAD 1 large, pkg. cheny jello 1 (308) can pitted Btaig cherries 1 large pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese 1 (12 oz.) botUe Coke 1 (303) can pineapple chunks H c. chopped nuts Drain juice from fruit; add water to make two cups. Heat juice to boiling; add to jello and stir until dissolved. Partially cool. Add gradually to softened cheese until blended. Add the remaining Ingredients and pour In mold or utility pan, depending on how you wish to serve. Can be served on lettuce. -oOo- SUPPER MEDLEY 1 lb. ground beef 1 can peas, canned or frozen 1 can tomatoes ^ lb. spaghetti Parmesan cheese Brown meat, add peas, tomatoes and simmer. Pan boil hi pound spaghetti and top vegetables and meat. Add parmessm cheese and brown. -oOo- CmCKEN DIVAN 1 can cream of chicken soup hi c. mayonnaise hi tap. curry powder 4 chicken breasts 2 boxes frozen broccoli Boll chicken breasts until tender. Partially cook broccoli In greased pan. Add boned chicken salt and pepper to taste. Tap with sauce at soup, mayonnaise and curry powder. Cover with foU. Bake at 360 degrees about ^ hour until mixture bubbles. -oOo- BANANABREAD hi e. butter 1 c. sugsu* hi c. milk 8eggs 2 c. Sifted flour 1 tq>. baking powder 1 tsp. soda 1 tap. vanilla 1 c. mashed bananas hi c. coarsely chopped nuts Cream butter and sugar thoroughly; add mashe'd bananas and blend. Sift flour and measure; add other dry Ingredients and sift. Combine milk, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with liquid to cresuned mixture. Fold nuts In last. Pour In well-greased loaf pan and bake In moderate oven, 300 degrees, for 36 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out without any batter clinging to It. -oOo- IK c. cake flour 1 tap. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon hi tsp. cloves hi tsp. salt hi c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1 e. tart, stiff applesauce 1 c. seedless raisins SUt flour, measure and reslft three times with soda, spices, and salt. Cream shortening and blend In sugar. Boat In egg, then iq>plesauce. Add flour mixture; blend well. Stir In raisins. Put Into buttered eight inch square cake pan lined with waxed paper. Bake In oven at 800 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool before serving. -oOo- CHOCOLATE CAKE 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda hi tsp. salt hi c. cocoa 2 c. sugar 2 eggs hi tsp. vanilla hi c. milk % c. Wesson oil 1 c. black coffee Mix sugar, eggs, vanilla, milk. Wesson oil and coffee together. Add dry In gredients and mix well. Bake In oven at 800 degrees for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out dry. Lower Heat Tolerable With Higher Humidity The home heating season is back, and more than ever people are looking for ways to conserve heat and cut the energy bill.
