Bethel United Methodist
Church.
Rev. O. A. Upton, as
sistant minister, and John
F. Bridges, cousin of the
bride, heard the couple ex
change vows of the double-
ling ceremony In a Unity
Candle service. The altar
of the church was en
hanced by Fall flowers In
the Apricot wedding theme
and three candles centered
the setting.
Wayne L. Ware was or
ganist for the program of
nuptial music and vocal
sdectlons were by Dr.
Jimmy Babb. Dr. Babb
sang "Wither Thou Gkiest”
before the ceremony and
"The Lord’s Prayer” as
the couple knelt at the
altar for the benediction.
John R. Phifer escorted
his daughter to the altar
and gave her In marriage.
The bride's wedding gown
was a formal design of silk
organza and Venlse lace
posed over faille taffeta
and fashioned with horse
shoe neckline outlined with
lace sprays. Matching lace
accented the front bodice
and circled the waistline.
The long sleeves had lace
Inserts and were finished
with double cardinal trills.
The A line skirt was en
hanced with bands of lace
florets which also bordered
the hemline. Her veil of

and she carried a white
Bible given to her by the
Presbyterian Hospital
Auxiliary upon graduation

cousin of the bride, was
matron of honor. Brides
maids were Miss Suzanne
Shiide, Miss Susan Allen,
Mias Dorothy Anne Kelly,
all of Charlotte, Miss Carla
Bridges, cousin of the
bride. Miss Karen Ware,
both of Kings Mountain,
and Miss Norma Jean Cole
of Gastonia, sister of the
bridegroom. Rhonda Cole,
cousin of the bridegroom,
was flower girl.
All the a^j^dpnts wore
Agadciqr formals featuring
halter necklines and
permanent pleat skirts.
Matching long-sleeved
Jackets enhanced the
dresses. They carried
nosegays of matching fall
flowers accented In the
apricot theme.
The flower girl topped
her apricot formsd-length
dress with an oft-whlte
lace apron and bonnet.
J. B. Cole of Gastonia
was his son's best man.
Groomsmen were

brother of the bridegroom;

sages. They were Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Bridges of Kings
Mountain, Mr. and Mrs.

The apricot theme of the
wedding was beautifully
carried out In decorative
details for the reception
held after the ceremony In
the church fellowship hall.
An all-white bridal cake
was central highlight of the
bride’s table and a nosegay
of apricot flowers topped
the cake. Apricot and fall
flowers decorated the
fellowship hall. Punch and
party pick-ups were served
from silver appointments.
Assisting In receiving
and entertaining were Mr.
and Mrs. Otis C. Falls, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Moore, who
greeted guests, Mrs. Linda
Wilder, who cut the cake,
assisted by Mrs. Eddie
Herndon, and Miss Linda
Herndon and Mrs. Cheryle
Causby who served punch.

All proceeds went to the
restoration of the Bijou
theatre and to the Senior
CItUene Theatre In iClngs-

Dr. Richardson were pre-
aented keys to the city of
KnoxvlUe by the Mayor
and were honored by the
Lamar House-Bljou
Theatre Committee at a
reception.

The Lamar House, the
earUest part of the buUdlng
constructed, was partlaUy
buUt around 1816 by
Thomas Humes, a wealthy
KnoxvlUe merchant.
OiiglnaUy buUt for use as a
tavern. It was used as a
hotel as early as 1817.
From 1838, to 1887, the
elegant hotel frequently
hoeted Andrew Jackson.
The second floor balcony
was a favorite spot for
poUtlcal speeches and was
used by President Ruther
ford B. Hayes when he was
honored there In 1077.
Besides Jackson and
Hayes, throe other
presidents, Polk, Johnson
and Grant, have been
guests at the hotel.
In 1000, the Bijou
Theatre was buUt directly
behind the Lamar House
and was built to serve

vaudeville at bargain
prices. Many great actors,
Including Ethyl and John
Barrymore, Alfred Lunt,
Lynn Fontaine and the
