Page 4B—MIRROR-HERALD—Thursday, December 15, 1977 Miss Simmons, Mr. Goble Exchanged Vows December 9 Miss Wingo Entertains DAR The marriage vows of Miss Deborah Gail Simmons and Robert Alan Goble were spoken Friday, Dec. 9, in a 4 p. m. ceremony at the home of the bride's parents. Officiating minister was the Rev. Lee Goins, pastor of .South Gastonia Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Goble, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin E. Simmons of 510 Crescent Hill, attended Kings Mountain High School and is employed by Homelite, a division of Textron, Gastonia. Her husband, who attended Hunter Huss High School, is also employed by Homelite. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Goble of 504 W. Westview Street in Gastonia. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Mrs. Linda Bennett, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. . Best man w^ Gary Cook, uncle of the bridegroom. The bride’s Mrents were hosts at a reception at their home following the ceremony. Mrs. Debbie Sizemi^re cut the cake and Mrs. Cindy Wilaoa poured punch. Mr. and Mrs. Coble are at home in Kings Mountain after a trip to the Coast. Mrs. Eugene Roberts was hostess. Refreshments carrying out the holiday theme were ser ved crocheted mats, felt or naments for the tree, door knob covers, etc. Two trees of styrofoam were artistically decorated with flowers made of different colors of yam. The highlight of the af ternoon was the presentation to Mrs. L. E. (Virginia) Hinnant of a memorial to be placed on the grave of her mother, Mrs. Bonnie Mauney Summers, from members of the DAR. The memorial tribute read: “There are those who are endowed with such a deep love of this free land of ours that their interests and activities for a lifetime center about studying the past as the begin ning of the present and the foundation of the future and sharing this information with others. “Such a one was Bonnie Mauney Summers. “Seeing in the Daughters of the American Revolution an organization through which she could further her patriotism, her research in genealogy and her constantly increasing knowledge of this locality, this state and other sections of the nation, she be came a charter member of the Colonel Frederick Hambright Chapter which she served loyally for over fifty years, filling practically every office, researching as genealogist for her family and giving valua ble aid to countless other families, writing the story of Kings Mountain and the sur rounding area, serving as treasurer of the North Caro lina DAR. Appointed honorary chairman of the Kings Mountain Centennial Commission in 1974, she supplied through her writing the historical information needed and, in spite of ill health, took part in the bir thday centennial celebration at Centennial Square. Mrs. Ted Bush assisted in serving cheese straws, mints and nuts. Miss Putnam was given a corsage of white mums to pin to the shoulder of her party dress.
