Add water and almond extract, mix weU. Add flour and aalt which have been sifted together and chocolate chips. Fold genUy Just until all flour Is dampened. Divide dough Into equal portions for tart. Press on back of 3 X iVi Inch muffin pans. Bake In 376 F oven about 16 minutes. Test for doneness at 10 to 12 minutes, tarts do not have to brown. Cool. Uft, gently with knife or spatula. These tarts freeze well. It Is not necessary to thaw before eating. Serving: FUl with peppermint Ice cream; top with chlUed chocolate syrup or a chocolate sauce. Recipe will make about 12 tarts using 3 x IVi Inch muffin pan. Use smaller muffin cup pans If you prefer a smaller tart. -aOo- SOUTHERN CHRISTMAS SHOW PEANUT COOKIES 1 cup butter or margarine 1 1-3 cups granulated sugar 11-3 cups firmly packed light brown sugEir 2 eggs 1 tecupoon vanilla IVi cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 3 cups quick cooking oats IVi cups chopped peanuts 1 pkg. (6 OZ.) semi- sweet chocolate bits (chopped) Allow butter or margarine to come to room temperature (about 30 minutes). In a large mixing bowl cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Sift flour with soda into a large bowl, add oats and toss to coat oats with flour. Add to mixture a cup at a time until completely mixed. Stir In peanuts and chocoUte bits. (Batter wlU be stiff.) Drop from teaspoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake In a preheated 876 F. oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields 6 dozen. -oOo- SUOAREDNUTS 8 cups walnut halves IVi cups pecan halves 2 cups sugar 1 cup water Vi teupoon cinnamon Mix Ingredients In heavy aldllet. Cook until water dtsappears and nuts have a . sugary appearance.' Remove from lieat and! pour nuts onto a baking; sheet. Separate quickly; with two forks. | -oOo- BASIC CRANBERRY RELISH Adds a color sparkle and sweet Urt taste to so many dishes 4 medium oranges, seeded I 2 pounds cranberries j 4 medium unpeeled ' apples, cored | 4 cups sugar j Peel yellow rind from oranges: trim off and ; discard white part. Put orange pulp and rind, i cranberries and apples | through food grinder. Add ■ sugar and mix well. Cover and refrigerate, or pour into glass Jars leaving Vi Inch head space. Seal and Freeze. Makes four pints.
