Admission is open to any adult at least 18 years of age. who is not currently enrolled in high school. Students must have their social security number to register. There is a $5.00 registration fee for each course taken and a $2.00 parking permit fee required for all cars parked on campus. Students may be required to purchase supplies and-or texts for some courses. In the event ot in sufficient enrollment, courses may be cancelled and all fees returned. Gaston College offers several different programs. Classes are held at a variety of locations in Gaston' and Lincoln Counties. Both day and evening classes are offered. Students may enroll in these programs at any time. Adult Basic Education Program: Offers instruction in the basic reading, English and math skills. Students can learn to read or improve their reading skills, learn basic math, and spelling and writing and how they can use these skills. COST: NONE l,rarnlng Lab: Offers a variety of pro^ammed instruction, including foreign languages, speed reading, and business and employment skills. Also, programs are offer^ which leach the reading. English and math skills necessary to pass the G.E.D. examination. COST: $2.00 Parking Fee G.E.D.: Programmed instruction showing how the skills learned in Adult Basic Kduc alion or la^arning l-abcan be applied to the G.E.D. test. Test taking techniques and final preparation lor the G.E.D. lest are emphasized. COST: $2.00 Parking Fee + $5.00 Registration Fw RECREATIONAL COURSES HIKING-BACKPACKING: A basic course covering equipment and techniques of hiking and back packing. 12 hours - Cost $15.00 MOUNTAINEERING: A basic course in basic motwtaineering techniques, including rappeling, traverses, technical and aid climbing. 32 hours - Cost $40.00 Registration will be scheduled at a later date.
