Display areas set up at the Community Center by high school sophomores, juniors and seniors illustrated how the students have formed their own companies, sold stock, are keeping books, manufacturing products like heavy-duty clothes hangers, eoolob' boards, trouble lights, which Incidentally have brought in $10 each, and hanging baskets. Centrex Company membo’s are enthusiasUc about their ecology boards which they have made from scratch and the popular Trouble light which sold like “hot cakes," according to program coor- dhiator Jerry Ledford. “FVom the word go" ac cording to Jerry, the young i/ people make all their decisions with guidelines offered by volunteers Hke Ledford, Marvin Teer who serves as county coordinator, Joe Robilliard who serves as city coordinator, J4la^ Roland and Barbara Mc Donald, both of Klnmont, and Haywood Homesley ** and Katrina Burris, both of Eaton Corporation, among olhera. Now in its second active year. Kings Mountein Junior Achievement Club meets weekly on Monday evening from 7 until 9 p. m. at the Community Center. Their determination to learn more about the free enterprise system is really paying off, according to Carte Mauney, corporation secretery. Board of Directors of Centrex open the regular meetings with discussions abouct upcoming projects and reports of sales and business, giving each board member aii opportunity to contribute his or her own ideas. The program is definitely working In the Kings Moun tain area and JAers are “doing their own thing" while learning the free enterprise system and getting experience for later years.
