Mr. ’Tate was re-elected I president and treasurer at the annual meeting ’Tuesday at 8 p. m. in the association home offices on East Mountain St. Fred J. Wright, Jr. was rej elected chairman of the boardi of directors. President Tate also reported that assets for the year 1977 were up by 15.14 percent for a total of $4,850,750.00; a total of 542 mortgage loans were made in the amount of $4,714,799.00, an increase of 17.08 percent; and gross income for the year amounted to $241,336.13. All directors and officers were re-elected for 1978. Directors are Fred J. Wright, chairman of the board; Dr. Paul Hendricks, Jack White, ’Thomas A. Tate, Sr., Grady P. Cheshire, B. S. In the Shelby area, Gardner- Webb received a grant totaling $1,300. ’The North Carolina colleges and universities are among almost 1,000 private ac credited two and four year institutions across the country wMch are sharing in $1,500,000 in Sears Foundation funds for the 1977-78 academic year.
