On my honor I will try to eerve God and my country and mankind and to live by the Olrl Scout law .. . Kings Mountain area Olrl Scouts In King-City-Orove Neighborhood — from Bessemer City, Kings Mountain, and Orover, were rethinking the meaning of the Olrl Scout pledge on Ihlnklng Day Saturday In a special program at First Presbyterian Church. The more than 136 glris also commemorated Lord and Lady Baden-Powell's birthday, the founders of the Boy Scout and Olrl Oulde movement, and gave a bir thday offering to the Juliette Lowe Friendship Fund. Scouts and their leaders celebrated Thinking Day at a Taste Fair which featured yummy foods from the countries of the U. S. A., Denmark, Greece, India, Jamaica, Italy, Mexico and Swltserland, among others, with all 10 troopa In the Neighborhood serving the goodies reminiscent of the country the troop chose to "study and think about during the observance,” said Helen Haynes, field director for Pioneer Olrl Scout Council. Greek mei^tballs, hot dips from Mexico, pastries cupcakes and cheese from Denmark, fruits from Jamaica, Italian meatballs and sauce, cheese and dip from France, and curried chicken, which was delicious, from India. Kay (Mrs. BUI) Robbs, the new Neighborhood Chairman, was very enthusiastic about Olrl Scout response to the first "taste fair” and prwiounced It a rousing success. Junior Troop 166 of First Presbyterian Church, under leadership of Shelia Bolin, Linda Davis and Sheila Brown, had studied Greece and Invited mi exchange student to a recent meeting to make plsuw for their partlclpatkm In the “fair.” Juniors In Troop 40 of Resurrection Lutheran Church, tmder the leadership of Jane Talbert and Susan Ooforth, dressed up as French designers and woyld you believe Brlglt Bardot?
