KMHS could get back into the thick of the battle with a victory, but a loss would almost certainly kill any playoff hopes the Mountaineers have. Adams, In his first year as East Gaston baseball coach. Is expected to throw JERRYADAMS with any consistency. The senior outfielder currently Is the only player hitting over .300. He’s 8- fbr-17 (or a .471 average. The only other player anywhere close to the .300 mark Is Ellis's replace ment at catcher, Tim Whitaker. He's hitting .288. The Mountaineers managed only four hits Friday against South Point's ace righthander, Dlz Richmond. They never could manage more than one hit In any one Inning. KMHS scored both of Its runs in the fourth Inning, one scoring on a fielder’s choice and the other on a double by Danny Bolin. South Point had grabbed a 2-0 lead off Ronnie Wilson tai the third on a walk and two errors by centerflelder Jimmy Hall. The Raiders got back-to- back singles by Richmond and Mitch Painter to open the decisive sixth and Cbach Gibson called Leach out of the bullpen.
