Members of the Recrea tion Committee and Women’s Missionary Iftilon surprised the Rev. Mr. Qoare on Saturday evening at the church. Letters and messages of tributes were read to honor Rev. Mr. Ooare and representatives of various Baptist Churches he ham served were on hand to make appropriate remarks. Myrtle and Carl Goforth, neighbors of the J. C. CkMires on Crescent Circle, praised the Ooares tor their spirit of good nelghborllness. At First Presbyterian '• Church last Sunday morning, Maullyn (Mrs. ; Henry) Nelsler, who headed up the arrange ment* committee for the Choir "roasting,” Inter rupted Rev. Gary Bryant as he was opening the morning worship service. Mrs. Betty (Terry) Hlpp was Installed as Worthy Matron, Paul Walker was Installed as Worthy Ma tron and Mr. and Mrs. Em mett Ross were Installed as Associate Matron and Associate Patron for the coming year. A reception honoring the new officers was held after the ceremonies euid a red and white color theme was featured In decorations and refreshments. Serving as Installing officer was Mrs. Janie Kincaid Campbell, as sisted by Mrs. Linda Moss as marshal, Mrs. Paul Owens as chaplain and Mrs. Black Leonard as or ganist.. Miss Herndon Feted At Drop-In Francis. Miss Patti Herndon, bride-elect of Jimmy Jolly, was honored Thursday evening at a drop-ln bridal shower at Kings Mountain Depot Center. Entertaining together were Mrs. Emmett Moss, Mrs. Harley Gore, Mrs. Harold Herndon, and Mrs. Charles Hartman. The 40 guests called from 7:30 until 9 p. m. and showered the bride-to-be with miscellaneous household gifts. The hostesses took the occasion to present Miss Herndon their wedding gifts. A green and yellow color moUf featured decorations and party refreshments. Arrangements of daisies decorated the refreshment table and gift table and dogwood blossoms decorated the walls.
