Show Set Children attending Cen tral School In Kings MountsUn will have the rare opportunity April 36 at 9:80 a. m. of seeing the Flat Rock Playhouse’s Vagabond School of Drama’s production of Carl Sandburg’s "Rootabaga Stories.” The one-hour production uses five dramatists who will present stories and poetry of Carl Sandburg, as well as songs from his "American Songbag. ” The players will perform four of Sandburg’s stories as well as sing from his store house of songs. According to Jim Hall, director of the Department of Public Instruction’s Division of Cultural Arts, touring theatre groups such as this provide many chUdren with their first experience with any type of theatre. Public school children get to see creative drama, mime, and Im provisations! theatre techniques by attending the live performances. The touring company’s production of "Rootabaga Stories” Is made possible through the Edwin Gill Theatre Project. The pro ject grew out of the former State Treasurer and State Board of Education member’s Interest In the theatre arts. The General Assembly has appro priated funds for the traveling theatre group since 1974.
