The winner may be either male or female. No person shall be en titled to receive the award more than one time during any ten year period. The selection shall be made on the following six point basis: Contribution to community welfare during the year (maximum 20 points). Participation In all-around community activities (maximum 20 points). EMdence of lasting con tribution to community activities (maximum 20 points). PICKMAN The Cleveland County Health Department, Merchants Association and Heart Association will sponsor a series of high blood pressure screening clinics throughout the county on Sat., May 8,1978. ’Ihe program Is done In conjunction with National The Award will be presented to the winner at a Citizen of the Year Award Banquet, which will be held during the month of June. Harmon, 94, of Rt. 2, retired farmer, were conducted Sunday af ternoon at 3 p. m. from El Bethel United Methodist Church of which he was a member. His pastor. Rev. G. A. Upton, officiated, assisted by Rev. E. L. Murphy , and interment was In the church cemetery. Mr. Harmon died Friday night at 8:25 p. m. in Kings Mountain Hospital after illness of several months. He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Alexander and Rachel Fulton Harmon. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Beatty Har mon: one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Nantz of Kings Mountain; one brother, ’Ihomas E. Harmon of Gastonia; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Goforth of Kings Mountain. Harris Funeral Home was In charge of arrangements. died Sunday at his home. He was a native of Georgia and a former resident of Kingsd Mountain. He was employed by Alcoa Construction Co. of Falls Church Va. and a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
