Grover May Day Is Held "Oklahoma” was the theme for the 1978 Grover School May Day on Thursday on the grounds of Grover School. The theme for the popular musicals was featured in the decorations, costumes of dancers, and program. The processional march was to "Surry With The FVlnge On Tc^’' and the Queen sat on the front porch of a Southern Plantation surrounded by her Court. Sandy Blanton was crowned as May Queen and other members of the May Cburt were Joaima Boheler, Maid of Honor; Brent White, Crown Beuer; smd attendants, BUly Jean Van Dyke, Lisa Dingus and Suzanne BoUn from the third grade; Lisa Sorrells and Tammy Watkins from the fourth grade; and Evlyn Roberts, Nancy Huskey and Sonya Cbndrey from the fifth grade. Principal James Scruggs crowned the Queen. Featured In the program were Head Start students dancing to "Funky Penguin and the Haunted House”; Kindergarten students in ‘ ‘Mickey Mouse March”; First Graders dancing to "Sailor’s Hornpipe," "Georgia Brown” and "Old Grey Mare”; Second Graders in "Jive Talk”; Third Graders dancing the hula to "Hawaiian Charms,” “Uttle Grass Shack” and "HukUou.” Fourth graders danced to "Dance of the 70's” and Fifth Graders swung their pardners at a square dance and presented the traditional May Pole Dance as tbe ghow finales.
