The Kings Mountain Redevelopment Commission has shelved action on an offer from a local businessman to sell 18,388 square feet of property. The property Includes the site of the McCoy station at the comer of W. King and S. Railroad Ave. and the property currently used for vehicle storage by the city. Gene White, executive director of the redevelopment commission, told the board Tuesday that the property Is loe feet fronting on W. King St. and 160 feet fronting on City St. ■"nie property Is owned by Ed McCoy Jr., "White said. "He has made a verbal offer to sell the property for 818,000. However, the Gqspralsed price for the lot at the end of 1676 was only $18,700.” White said the property has been considered by the board' to be dropped from the urban renewal program. He said he feels the asking price Is too far out of line, but the board took no action on either ac cepting the offer or dropping the parcel from renewal projects. White said under the HUD guidelines, writeoffs are encouraged If investigation shows that coUectlon of the rents would be detrimental to the part concerned. Grover Board Petition The recent Kidney Foundation of North Caro lina fund raising drive In Kings Mountain was a success, according to Mrs. Ruby Baker, chairman of the drive. The drive was sponsored by the Kings Mountain Woman’s Club. TTie drive, held March 17-19, produced a total of $300 here. Money raised In the drive will be used for research, public and professional education programs, patient services and the Kidney Founda tion’s organ donation program. Valentins, Hatch was operating a motorcycle which ran off Road 3086 and overturned three miles west of Kings Mountain at 0:80 p. m. Damage was estimated at $400.
