Matters Eye SWC Tourney Kings Mountain High’s wrestlers split a pair of Southwestern S-A Con ference matches last week, defeating Burns 61-16 Monday and losing to East Gaston 30-27 Tlursday. 'The Mountaineers, now 6-3 overaU, were scheduled to meet Chase last night. ’Ihey go to Crest Thursday. Kings Mountain won seven of 11 matches ’Thursday against East Gaston but forfeits con tinued to kin the Moun taineers. In both of their conference losses (against Shelby and East Gaston) the Mounties won more matches but gave up 12 points to each team on forfeits. “I felt like we were the favorite to win the con ference,” said Coach Steve Moffltt, “so I guess we’ll have a lot to prove In the Incoming Southwestern 3- A Conference tour nament.” ’The Mountaineers, now out of the running for the regular season crown which they shared tost year with Shelby and East Gaston, host the first conference tournament on Friday and Saturday, January 26-27, with action getting underway at 7 p. m. on Friday night. ’The top wrestlers from the SWC will go to Charlotte Feb. 9-10 for the Southwestern Sectional Tournament. The best wrestlers there go to Hickory on Feb. 16-17 for the Western Regional Ibumament and the top grapplers there go to Wnston-Salem on Feb. 23- 24 for the State ’Tour nament.
