one of nine adult scout
leaders In the Piedmont
Council to receive the
the Sliver Beaver Award
next month.
The Stiver Beaver
Award Is the highest
award granted an adult by
the council each year. The
award is given for
noteworthy service of
exceptional character to
boyhood.
The awards will be
presented at a banquet to
be held Frl., Feb. 23. at
Gardner-Webb College.

had 10 Eagle Scouts ki his
troop during hla career.
As a Kings Mountain
community leader. Falls
was voted I9«2's Young
Man of the Tear by the
Jaycees. He U a member of
the local Masonic Lodge.

received a Presidential
citation of appreciation
from the N. C. Council of

Falls Is married and has
one daughter and one son.
Mrs. Jackie Lavender,
chemistry and physics
teacher at Kings MountsOn
High School, has been
named asautant principal
and desui of women at
KMHS.
Her appointment was
approved Tuesday night at
a special meeting of the
board of education.
Mrs. Lavender assumes
the poet previously held by
Mrs. Cbselle Vance, who
was recently named
principal of Blast Elemen
tary School.
Mary Carol Ward was
spproved as chemistry and
physics teacher.
In another matter, the
board granted two rights of
««y to the city of Kings
Mountain for extension of
streets.
