College Basketball Report To Be Seen SaU Mar, 3 CHARLOTTE - The "College Baaketball Re port" moves to prlme-Ume on Saturday. March 3, when the final show of the season airs at 8 p. m.. Immediately preceding the ACC Tournament championship game on WBTV, Channel 8. WBTV Sports Director Jim Thacker and well- known sports analyst Billy Packer, regulars on the ACC game of the week, will show highlights of the ACC semi-final games and highlights of the Sun Belt championship game. Jones has five players back from last year plus three promising sopho mores who helped lead the Junior high to a second place finish In the Western Junior High Athletic Association. “We’ll be looking for more consistency this year,” says the veteran KMHS mentor. "We have some players who should rank among the best around.” The Mountaineers won their share of regular season matches last year but slumped to a third place finish in the con ference tournament. "Austin hM a lot of tournament experience,” said Jones, "so he should be ready for a good year. Beam and Forbes also have a lot of experience. Forbes was probably our most consistent player last year.” The othdr two members of the team are Sammy Wolfe and Delk Halgler, who alternated at the sixth position last year and who are much Improved and looking for a higher position. The Mountaineers will play seven regular season matches, Including three at Kings Mountain Country Club. The conference tournament, which decides the champion, will be held May 8-4 at Oallagher Trails and Rlverbend. It wiU be a 86-hole event. The sectional tourney will again be played at Gastonia Municipal and the state tourney at Finley Golf Course In Chapel Hill.
