The Town of Grover is
among seven city and
county governments ap
plying for funding under
the HUD “701” program.
According to Mayor Bill
McCarter, the HUD grants
are available on a 50-50
matching basis and may
be used for a variety (rf
local planning activities,
such as housing and land
use plans, technical
assistance, subdivision
regulations, annexation
studies and others. Mayor
McCarter said that the city
has applied for funds for a
land use study.
Other local governments
applying for funding were
Old Fort, Columbus,
Rutherfordton, Forest
City, Marion and Polk
County.

ROCKING FOR HEART FUND—Residents of Kings
Mountain Convalescent Center did their bit last week to
raise money for the Kings Mountain Heart Fund by
staging a rock-a-thon in the center dining room. Ap
proximately 24 residents rocked to music to raise $400
from individual sponsors for the Heart Fund. Center
volunteers also provided baked goods and beverages to
sell to visitors during the event to add extra money to
the fund.
