Page 4A—MIRROR-HERALD—Thursday, April 19, 1979 Vandals Strike Home Second Time Friday, the 13th, was an unlucky day for Dwight and Kathy Dixon, of 902 Lee St. Vandals returned to their home, for the second time in a month, ran sacked their house while both were at work and carted off $3364 in mer chandise, plus damaging of windows and the interior of the house. Mrs. Dixon estimated the break-in occurred between 1 and 3:20 p.m. since she was at home during the noon hour. Kings Mountain Police Department said that thieves vandalized the Dixon house on Friday, March 9th, carting away over $600 in merclundise. The apparently hungry thieves Friday also cleaned out the refrigerator, taking ap proximately $100 in groceries. They also took $100 worth of lamps, one AM-FM clock radio, valued at $100, one stereo, valued at $900, one Kodak color camera, valued at $75, one 21 inch Admiral TV, valued at $169, one Kenmore sewing machine, valud at $450, one record player, valued at $150, one movie projector, valu^ at $150, one wall clock, valued at $50, one alarm clock, valued at $2, one GE portable hair d^er, valued at $40, one alarm clock, valued at $30, electric curlers, valued at $25, curling iron, valued at $25, remote control for television set, valued at $25, stereo hrad phones, valued at $32, tape deck, valued at $40, vacuum cleaner, valued at $500, and a Princess telephone belonging to Southern Bell Tel. Co. Ptl. J.A. Burton, who investigated for KMPD, said that vandals broke two windows on the east side of the house and vandalized the entire house. KMPD is investigating a rash of vandalism in cidents which occurred during the weekend. George K. Edwards reported that a battery was stolen from his 1973 Plymouth while the car was parked at Depot Center on April 11th. In vestigating officers were Ptl. Houston Com and Sgt. Lemuel Beattie. Morris Hambright, school bus driver for Bus 198, reported that he parked Ae school bus at 3:30 p.m. on A|sril 11 in the bus yard at North School, returned later to find that someone had cut all the seats with a sharp object. The right rear seat of the bus was tom out and the keys were also stolen, said investisatinK officers Cora and Beattie. Dr. Paul Ausley, of 406 Downing Dr., reported that between 8:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday pranksters tied fishing lines across his driveway by wrapping it around a utility pole and trees. The line was reported strung tightly at a height which would be about chest high on someone walking up the driveway. Dr. Ausley discovert the prank while walking his dogs that evening. Ptl. David Bridges and St. John Belk are investigating the in cident. Fulton’s Department Store’s burglar alarm sounded Friday evening, and upon investigation, Sgt. Bob Hayes found the glass broken on the rear door of the building. No entry was made, said Sgt. Hayes, and estimated damages were $100. Leonard Smith, of 807 Floyd St., reported to KMPD Sgt. Lemuel Beattie that someone took his 32 caliber pistol, alued at $150, from a station wagon parked at Sadie Mill sometime Friday. Piedmont Wa^erette at 324 N. Piedmont Ave. was vandalized between 4 and 9 p.m. Easter Sunday by vandals who marked up the walls, broke mirrors, and dumped garbage and soap boxes on the floor, according to Ptl. David Bridges and Sgt. John Belk who investigated for KMPD. Roy Parris of Phillips Utility Co. reported that land-moving equipment at the end of Grace St. was sprayed with silver paint 1^ vandals m Monday night. Phillips Utility crews had been working in that area. Ptl. James Camp investigated for MPD. KMPD Records Clerk Marty Southards reported that two defendants were charged with issuing worthless checks, one with tut and run and property damage, one with driving under influence and running red light, and two for trespassing. . CONTESTANT—Kerry Kathleen Rhyne, seven- year-old daughter of John and Marilyn Rhyne and a second grader, is among contestants for “Littie Miss Kings Mountain” in the KM Boosters Ciub- sponsored beauty pageant Saturday night. BEAUTY—Tammy Cook, seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cook and a second grader, will participate in Saturday night’s “Little Miss Kings Mountain” beauty pageant at B.N. Barnes Auditorium. Youth To Serve Supper Youth of Central United Methodist Church will serve spaghetti Wed., AjM-il 25th, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. Plates are $3 for adults and $1.25 for children 10 and under and will include homemade spaghetti, salad, French bread, tea or coffee. Desserts will also be available at small charge. All proceeds will be applied toward purchase of the adjoining Fulton property on Piedmont Ave. Supper tickets may be obtained at the church office or at the door on Wednesday evening.
