Baptist Homes For Aging Dedication Sunday The Western North Carolina Baptist Homes for the Aging will be dedicated at 3 p.m. on Sun., April 29, with a number ot denominational laadert appearing on the program. Home officials are preparing for as many as 1,000 expected to attend. The event climaxes efforts initiated 3Vi years ago when a campaign was launched to raise $l million for the Home. Baptists have five similar facilities throughout the state but this is the first one to be built west of Winston Salem. The Rev. Ralph L. Cannon of Winston-Salem who directed the campaign will be master of ceremonies. Others on the program include Executive Director William A. Poole of Winaton-Salem; General Secretary-Treasurer Cecil Ray of the Baptist State Convention; Biblical Recorder Editor Marse Grant; Dr. Cecil E. Sherman, pastor of First Baptist Church, Asheville; Dr. W. Perry Crouch of Raleigh, a former pastor at Asheville and retired General Secretary- Treasurer of the Baptist State Convention; Nane Starnes of /Vsheville, co- chairman of the fund raising campaign; Dr. W.R Wagoner of TTiomaavilie, president of the Baptist Children’s Homes and Wade Huey of Marshall. The 51-room facility cost of tl.etvO.OOO furnished. The medical area has an examination room, medical supply room and a therapy room. Each room has a smoke detector There is also an inter-com system which connects each room to the Marine Worksho|^H4 Set For Summer Two summer workshops have been scheduled to give teenagers an op portunity to learn about marine resources, ecology of the coastal region and marine-related careers. The dates and places for the workshops are June 17- 23, Marine Resources Center, Manteo, and August 5-11, Marine Resources Center, Fort Fiaher.
