Nwth Carollu Air National Guard, Charlotte, was accorded double honors upon his graduation from the Air National Guard Ncmcommissioned Officers Academy. MSgt. Harris was designated a Distinguished Graduate for academic and leadership excellence in placing among the top 10 per cent of his class. MSgt. Harris was also selected as the recipient of the Honor Flight Commander’s Award for exhibiting outstanding qualities of leadership as Commander of “C” Flight at the Academy. MSgt. Harris makes his home in Kings Mountain, with his wife, the former Sherry Sorrels of Gastonia, and their two sons, David, age 8, and Jason, age 5. A veteran of 20 years military service, MSgt. Harris has been with the Air Guard for 10 years. Prior to entering the Air Guard, where he is em ployed as a full time Technician, he served ten years in the U.S. Navy. His present duty assignment is as a Flight Engineer In structor. The letter of com mendation from Col. Edmond C. Morrisey, Jr., Commandant of the Academy at Alcoa, Ten nessee, pointed out the significance of the awards: “These achievements are especially significant because they involved keen competition among a highly motivated group of senior Noncommissioned Officers of comparable Intelligence, wisdom, professional competence and dedication to their Air Force professions and the Air National Guard,” said Col. Morrisey. In commenting on the dual award, MSgt. Harris had this to say: “I feel being selected as the recipient of the Honor Flight Commander’s Award was the most outstanding. The award reflected upon the entire flight and how we were able to function as a unit and perform as a team. The Distinguished Graduate Award was great. That was a personal accomplishment, the Honor Flight Com- nnander’s Award belonged to all of us.” MSgt. Harris is a naUve of Gap Mills, West Va. where his mother, Violet, resides. Inducted Shana Burris and Lin Chon of Kings Mountain and Kenneth W. Dover of Chrovor were inducted into the Cleveland Tech chapUr of the Gamma Beta Phi Society last Friday evening..
