McKlmmon Center. "At the conference, operators of small business can receive advice on management, financing, or selling to government and can talk with government buyers," said Albert CUloway of the N.C. Department of Commerce. Businessmen can attend workshops on Financing a Small Business; Set-Aside Program with the U.S. Government; Selling or Contracting to the Government; Construction and Bonding; Ex porting; Managerial and-or Technical Services; and Fran chising Opportunities. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. A brief opening ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. and workshope will begin at 9:80 a.m. The registration fee Is $8. When the businessmen aren't attending workshops, they can meet with government agency buyers, who will set up booths at the con ference. Almost all major military Installations; the General Services Administration; and N.C. Division of Purchase and Contract will be among those with buyers at the conference. Library Offering Pamphlets Tile Mauney Memorial library Monday, began offering Its patrons free Informational pamphlets on everyday legal problems written In easy-to-understand layman’s language. Librarian Hasel FYyer said the materials are being made available as a part of a public Information program of The Lawyers of North OaroUna. T(q>lcs covered In the Initial phase of the program Include; Wills, Marriage In North Carolina, Separation and Divorce, Buying a Home, What to Do In Case of an Auto Accident and Serving on a Jury. The Lawyers of North Carolina, Inc., Is a public Infotmatlon service of the North Carolina Bar Association. The distribution of Information on everyday legal problems has long been a cor nerstone of the Bar Assoclatton's public Information program. For a number of years, newspaper column and radio features have been provided to newspapers and radio stations throughout the State. "We are delighted that libraries throughout North Carolina are participating In this program," said John E. Raper, Jr., of Fayetteville, President of The Lawyers of North Carolina. "We feel that there Is a genuine need for answers to questions about everyday legal matters and that people should not necessarily have to consult a lawyer on relatively routine matters." Tile ensemble, part of the sym phony’s Dlscoveiy Group program, will perform and explain the various musical Instruments to students at the Informal gatherings. Tile ensemble Is scheduled today at 10 and 10:46 a.m. at Grover School and at 1:16 p.m. at North School. Wednesday the group will be at Bast School for two performMces, 10 and 10:46 a.m., then at North School agsdn at 1:16 p.m. Thursday the diows are 10 and 10:46 a.m. at Beth- ware School and at 1:16 p.m. at West School. Next year the Kings Mountain District Schools wUl host the fuU symphony for two concerts, spon sored by community fund-raising. WhltsUcer, son of Billy L. and Shirley B. Whitaker of 3160 Mldplnes, Kings Mountain, has completed the Basic Electrician’s Mate Course. During the self-paced course at the Service School Commsuid, Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, ni., the students received Instruction on electrical theory and studied the operating principles of the batteries, generators, motors, and transformers used aboard ships and at shore In stallations. The course was designed to provide a thorough understanding of the operation, main tenance, and repair of electrical systems. A 1978 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School, he Joined the Navy In July 1978.
