TEACHER Eastern Brass Quintet.... ‘Quintet To Perform In Gastonia The Eastern Brass Quintet will be presented by the Gastonia Community Concert Thursday at 8 p.m. at Hunter Huss High School. Admittance is by membership only. The quintet features Richard Green and William Wich on the trumpets, Tucker Jolly on the tuba, Robert Fanning on the trombone and Charles Baxter on the french horn. : The group banded together in the 1970s and has established | themselves as the finest brass ensemble in America. They have given over 1,000 perfor- mances and when not on tour, serve as Artists-in-Residence at the University of Connecticut in Storrs and as members of the New Haven Symphony Or- chestra. Majorette Competition Is Scheduled The Motsinger Matadors Baton Drill Team of Gastonia will sponsor the Metrolina Drum Majorettes of America competi- tion Sat., Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. at Ashbrook High School. The Motsinger Matadors are the 1980-81 National Drill team champions in their age division. This is the first time the Metrolina competition has been -held in this area. The public is invited to attend. Concessions will be available. Area Students On Dean’s List Boiling Springs.N.C.— Two local residents were named on the Gardner-Webb College Dean’s List. Lisa Kay Bridges, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bridges of Kings Mountain, maintained a 3.812 quality point ratio dur- ing the Fall 1981 semester at Gardner-Webb College. An- thony Jeoji Putnam, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Putnam of Route One, Grover, maintained a 3.764 quality point ratio. Gardner-Webb is a liberal arts College affiliated with the Bap- tist State Convention of N.C. of- fering Associate, Bachelor, and Master’s degrees. The College is noted for its independence of federal funding and promotion of the free enterprise system. Mrs. Warlick On Dean’s List Mrs. Jewel Robbs Warlick of 405 Downing Drive, Kings Mountain, was one of 366 Win- trop College students selected to the president’s and dean’s lists for the fall semester. To achieve the president’s list a student must have a 4.0 (straight A) grade pont ratio for the semester. For the dean’s list, a student must have a .35 or bet- ter and carry at least 12 semester hours of course work. LEGION BIRTHDAY The annual Kings Mountain American Legion birthday party will be held Tues., Mar. 2 at the legion building. The covered dish meal will be for men and women. Women are asked to be at the legion at 6:30 and the men at 7 p.m. IT'S A BOY Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Dean Dellinger of Stanley announce the birth of a son, Benjamin Dean, Jan. 12 at Presbyterian Hospital. The baby is a fifth generation in two braches of his family. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dellinger of Stanley and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bell of Mt. Holly. Great- grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Payne of Alexis, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Adams of Mt. Hol- ly and Mrs. M.L. Bell of Mt. Holly, formerly of Kings Moun- tain.
