The youth of Oak Grove Bap-
tist Church will sponsor a hot
dog sale Saturday from 11 a.m.
until 7 p.m. at the church
fellowship hall. Hot ‘dogs and
desserts will be sold. All proceeds
will go toward sending the youth
to church camp.

She rocohily received her
funeral director’s license from
the North Carolina Board of
Mortuary Science after com-
pleting a 32-hour course of study
at Cleveland Technical College
and serving a year’s appren-
ticeship at Harris Funeral Home.
During her year’s appren-
ticeship, she assisted in directing
funeral services of all types,
assisted in funeral arrangements,
reported obituaries to the news
media and sent in quarterly
reports to the State Board of
Mortuary Science.
Her state board exam included
testing on hygiene, public health,
psycology, ac-
counting and mortuary ad-
ministration.
Mrs. Caveny and her hus-
band, Sam, reside in the
Bethlehem Community. They
have two sons, Dale and Dennis,
and are members of Bethany
Baptist Church of Grover.

Wins Boys
Tournament
C&C Metal defeated Kiwanis
© 35.27 Wednesday to win the
8-9-10 year old basketball league
tournament at the Community
Center.
The C&C team was coached
by Dan Honeycutt and Scott
Henson.
Can Do Bank defeated the
Tigers 26-20 in the consolation
game.
C&C, which drew an opening
round bye, won games over the
Optimist, 46-21, and the Tigers
to advance to the championship
game.
Kiwanis made the finals by
defeating Rotary and Can Do.

Dr. Stockton is native of
Winston-Salem, is a graduate of
Reynolds High School, received
his AB degree from Davidson

from Duke Divinity School,
1955, and studied at Cambridge
University, 1956. He has served
the Myers Park Church since
1975.
