Library Notes
By MARYJANE CARBO
A good way to celebrate Na-
tional Library Week, this week,
would be to visit your local
public library, right? Of course it
is! Wed love to have you sup-
port your library by reading our
books.
But we at the Mauney
‘Memorial Library also know
that the average person also
loves a bargain. So we've com-
bined the two (books and
bargains, that is) and have come
up with the Mauney Library’s
2nd Annual Used Book Sale.
The Book Sale takes place
tomorrow, April 23, on the
library porch from 10:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. All kinds of used
books will be on display:
‘romances, non-fiction, adven-
ture, magazines, mysteries and
children’s books. Hardback
books cost 25°. Paperback books
and magazines will cost 10° each
or three for 25°. Stop by Friday
and browse. You might fing
something that you’ve been sear-
ching for for years.
You'll know also that you will
be helping the Mauney
Memorial Library in one of our
projects. All proceeds from the
Book Sale will. go toward
microfilming our back issues of
the Kings Mountain Herald.
We carry issues back to 1947
and many of these, especially the
older ones, are beginning to
deteriorate badly. In the interest
of preserving everything concer-
ning Kings Mountain’s history
and people, we would like very
much to see these old issues of
the Herald saved and put on
microfilm.
So you can profit in two ways
when you come to the public
library’s Book Sale tomorrow.
You'll be finding a book bargain
for today and preserving our
heritage for tomorrow!
