GOLF WINNERS - Pictured above are the winners in the Women's Invitational Golf Tournament Tuesday at Kings Mountain Country Club. Gault Wins Tourney Lib Gault fired an 84 Tuesday to win the Women’s Invitational Golf Tournament at Kings Mountain Country Club. Second low gross honors in the championship flight went to Dot Spangler and Lynne Mauney, who shot 85 each. Margaret Williams won low net honors in the champinship flight with a 70 and Loraine Arey was second with a 73. Donis Gold won low gross in the first flight with a 91 and . Denice McKee was second at 92. As a part of its annual Dixie Youth Queen Night, officers of the local Dixie Youth Leagues gave representatives from each team a chance to win money. The contestants received as many bills as they were able to hurdle. KM’s Jeff Guy Wins Tega Cay Tennis Tle: Eleven-year-old Jeff Guy of Kings Mountain won the singles crown and teamed with Sean Ferraira of Charlotte to win the doubles championship in the York Observer Tennis Tourna- ment last week at Tega Cay, S.C. Jeff won four matches in straight sets to claim the singles title. He defeated Scott Cunn- ingham of Tega Cay 6-1, 60 , Kevin Constantine of Tega Cay 6-0 6-0, Ron Davis of Rock Hill 62, 7-5, and Jens Cuntz of Charlotte 64, 7-5. In doubles action, Jeff and Sean defeated Todd Ewing of Charlotte and Richard August of Tega Cay 6-1, 6-1; Scott Sut- ton and J. J. Tramonana of Tega Cay 6-0, 6-0; and Ron Davis and Patrick Low of Rock Hill 6-0, 6-0. Jeff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Guy of Kings Mountain, is a Th JEFF GUY state-ranked junior player and participates each week in tour- naments around the Carolinas. Piedmont Baptist Church’s Youth Department is sponsoring a yard sale and bake sale at the church Saturday, June 26, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 1982-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Page 3A i 2 Green Hurls No-Hitter In Babe Ruth Baseball Jamie Green of the Kings Mountain Redlegs hurled a no- hitter against Gastonia in a Senior Babe Ruth League baseball game Thursday night. The Redlegs scored a 12-0 vic- tory. Green didn’t walk a batter and struck out eight. Eric Spicer, Robert Anderson and Eric Ballew ‘had two hits each to lead the Kings Mountain plate attack. One of Anderson’s was a grand slam home run. Reggie Cunningham was the losing pitcher. The Redlegs won four other games during the past week, Re-Elect Cleveland County defeating Iredell County 8-1, Southern Pines 8-4, the Kings Mountain Orioles 14-5 and Bessemer City 7-6. The win over Bessemer City moved the Redlegs into a tie for first place with Bessemer. Tony Childers hurled the vic- tory over Iredell County at Statesville. He allowed only three hits and fanned seven. Anderson had a perfect day at the plate, smashing three doubles, and was named the game’s most valuable player. State University *M.A. and Eds - Western Carolina University collected a pair of hits and was named the game’s most valuable player. Anderson led the KM hitting with 3-for4. Mathis gave up only four hits, walked two and fanned nine. Tony Childers outdueled Ran- dy Whitaker as the Reds whip- ped the Orioles. Anderson led the KM hitting with 2-for-3, in- cluding a homer, and Mathis also homered. Jeff Moss led the Orioles with 2-for-3.
