A senior at Appalachian State
University majoring in business
administration, Miss Shelton
said she looks forward to the
practical experience that she
hopes to gain from working in
the Lenoir representative’s
Washington office.
“I feel that this internship will
enhance my college career in a
praticial way, which exposure to
textbooks and classroom lectures
cannot totally achieve,” Miss
Shelton explained of the intern-
ship.
The Kings Mountain native is
a member of the Phi Beta Lamb-
da Business Fraternity at Ap-
‘palachian State University and
also serves on the Rhododen-
dron, the school yearbook.

Brodnax Graduates
From Sherman College
Scott Brodnax of Kings
Mountain recently graduated
with honors from Sherman Col-
lege of Straight Chiropractic in.
Spartanburg, S.C.
Prior to graduation, he took
the South Carolina Board of .
Chiropractic Examiners test,
which consisted of two practical
and 10 written exams, and pass-
ed all 12 parts to earn a license to
practice chiropractic in South
Carolina.
The chiropractor administer-
ing one of the practical tests of-
fered Brodnax an associate posi-
tion at his clinic, which is one of
the largest in South Carolina,
but Brodnax turned down the of-
fer and plans to practice in
Blacksburg. He plans to con-
tinue to reside in Kings Moun-
. tain, where he has lived for the
past 11 years. He will be starting
his own associate practice short-
ly in the office of Dr. Ron Sisk,
where he has worked for the past
three months.
SCOTT BRODNAX
Dr. Brodnax will use the
Pierce Technique, which he said
is concerned with correcting
misaligned bones of the spine to
remove pressure from the ner-
vous System, and allows the
body to regain health naturally
without drugs or therapy.
County School Retirees
Honored At Picnic Supper
School personnel retiring this
year were honored on Thursday
evening with a picnic’ supper
held at Bethware School
Cafeteria and given by the
Cleveland County Chapter of
North Carolina Retired School
Personnel.
A bounteous meal was served
buffet style, with plenty of
chicken, ham biscuits,
vegetables, and salads, and a full
table of desserts. Summer
flowers graced the tables,
especially the one where the
honored guests sat.
Mrs. Virginia Raymer, retir-
ing Chapter President, gave a
word of greeting and returned -
thanks. A gift of either a
bookmark or letter opener con-
taining the North Carolina State
Seal was presented each retiree
present. .
