Page 2A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, July 8. 1982 OBITURRIES LENA MAE GOFORTH GROVER—Lena Mae Har- din Goforth, 62, of Route 1, Grover, died Thursday at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Hosea Harding and Kate Ar- rowood Goforth. She is survived by her hus- band, William Harvey Goforth; two daughters, Mrs. Reba Cochrane and Ms. Donna Holman, both of Grover; three sons, James Delmar Goforth, Vernon Goforth, and Ray Goforth, all of Grover; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Bell, Mrs. Della Carroll, and Mrs. William Zelma Jackson, all of Grover; and 12 grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clearview Baptist Church with the Rev. Rudolph Lemmons, the Rev. B.L. Queen, and the Rev. Flay Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Grover Cemetery. HATTIE CASH Hattie Welch Cash, 73, of York Road, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday at her home after 7 years illness. She was a native of Swain County. She was the daughter of Arvil W. Welch and a retired salesperson. She is survived by her hus- band, David Cash; two daughters, Mrs. Abel (Jean) Girault of Charlotte and Betty Mitchell of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Hardy Welch and Berlin Welch of Paw Creek and Vergie Sparns of Charlotte; and 6 grandchildren. Funeral services were con- ducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ivan Stephans and the Rev. Robert Boggan officiating. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. IRIS VANCE KERRNERSVILLE—Mrs. Iris Elizabeth Vaughn Vance, 62, of 7921 Vance Road, died Sunday morning at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston- Salem. * A retired beautician, she was a native of Forsyth County. She was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and attended Bunker Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- band, James (Jimmy) Gilmer Vance of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Jerralene) Brown of Kings Mountain; her mother, Mrs. Stella Parnell Vance of Kerrnersville; one sister, Mrs. Ovella V. Vance of Kerrnersville; two brothers, William Floyd Vaughn of Winston-Salem and Henry Her- man Vaughn of Kerrnersville; and three grandchildren. Funeral will be Tuesday at Lain Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Z.L. Rhue officiating. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Church Cemetery. DORIS MORITZ Doris Royster Moritz, 54, of Anihiem, Calif., died Sunday at 6:30 after several weeks’ illness. She was a native of Grover and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bunyon Royster. She is survived by her hus- band, Robert Moritz; three sons, Paul, Michael and John Moritz of Anihiem; four brothers, Grier Royster of Blacksburg, J.B. Royster of Carboro, and Frank and George Royster of Grover; and a sister, Mrs. Duane (Jeanelle) Carmack of An- chorage, Alaska. Funeral and burial will be in * California. The group’s pur- pose is to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. They minister in music to various age levels, using styles that adapt to each au- dience. Group members are from various states in the United States and Canada. Skylight Vocal Band will be traveling to seven states throughout the midwest and east coast. Skylight Vocal Band is one of six music groups being sent out by ORU this summer Todd Pet- tygrove, a 1980 graduate, is director of the music ministries program at ORU. OR is a / private, nondenominational, liberal arts institution which opened in 1965. Schools of medicine, Den-~ tistry, Business, Theology, Education and Law are in opera- tion, as well as Master’s-level courses inthe Anna Vaughn School of Nursing. Construction on Phase I of the City of Faith medical and research center was completed in November of 1981, and patients are currently being received. Pvt. Smith Has Course Army Reserve Pvt. Terry L. Smith, son of Everette H. and Shirley A. Smith of 1300 Nor- thwoods Drive, Kings Moun- tain, has completed a tracked- vehicle repair course at Aber- deen Proving Ground, Md. During the course, students were trained to repair engines, transmissions, and the fuel, elec- trical and hydraulic systems of the, Army’s tracked vehicles.
