John Wesley Winners...
Honor Council Held
At First Wesleyan
First Wesleyan Church held
Honor Council for its CYC Club
on June 6. CYC is a Christian
club for children ages two
through sixth grade.
Children ages two through
kindergarten are in the Joybell
Group, first grade through third
graders are in the Herald Group
and fourth through sixth graders
are in the Cadet Group.
Children in the Herald and
Cadet programs earn awards
during the year, and they are
presented at Honor Council,
which is held twice each year.

“We're talking about a small
percentage of people,” he went
on. “Eighty to 85 percent of the
citizens pay as soon as they get
the bill. Unfortunately,
sometimes youre going to get
some good people mixed in with
the bad ones.”
Referring to the Huffstetler
situation, McDaniel added,
“Those things happen and I can
understand it. I wish I could
segregate them but I can’t.”
CYC is held on Wednesday
night from 6:45 until 8:15 and
runs from the first Wednesday in
September to the last Wednes-
day in May. CYC is a club that
teaches children how to live and
grow as Jesus did and takes
Christianity off the blackboards
and out of the books and puts it
into every day life.
Four young people in the
Herald and Cadet programs
have earned every award possi-
ble in the program and as a result
have earned the John Wesley
Award, which is the highest
award possible in the CYC pro-
gram. They include Beth Smith,
daughter of Leonard and Otie
Smith of 99 Myers Street; Tina
Roper, daughter of Mike and
Shirley Roper of 503 Broad
Street; Kevin Bolin, son of
Charles and Elizabeth Bolin of
606 Landing Street; and
Charlotte Taylor, daughter of
Caley and Debbie Taylor of 801
Southwood Drive. All are rising
seventh graders at Central
School.
Dwight H. Edwards is pastor
at First Wesleyan and Debbie
Taylor is CYC director.
