The various courses in- cluding astronomy, oceanography, ' chemistry, mathematics, English and creative writing were taught by the instructors from Elon’s facul- ty. The 88 students from all over ‘the Southeast also participated in planned group activities and optional courses including creative dramatics, instrumental music, three dimensional design and film watching. At the completion of the ses- sion. Patrick was presented an evaluation of his 18 hours in his course and a certificate. While at Elon, Patrick, his mother Mrs. Dora Heavner, and his brother, Matt, were enter- tained by Dr. and Mrs. Michael McKee and daughters, Amanda and Laura. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Heavner of Kings Mountain, Patrick is an honor student at Central Middle School. Hunter Completes Training Navy Airman Recruit Helen M. Hunter, daughter of Dessie H. Crosby of 16 Carolina Garden Apartments, Kings Mountain, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week train- ing cycle, trainees studied general military subjects design- ed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy’s 85 basic oc- cupational fields. Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval History, and first aid. Scott Biddy In Training Scott Biddy, son of Roy and Iris Biddy, will leave July 16 for the Naval Training Center in Orlando, Florida, to complete his basic training.
