Lack Of Communication
To the editor:
There has been a great lack of communication of representation bet-
ween the elected and those whom they are to represent.
The communication gap is widening as each day goes by.
Elected officials have become too emerged in themselves and their
egotistical self glory and selfish aims of self ambition and the greed for
political power to use them at their own pleasure and have lost all
sense of reality as to who elected them to public office in the first place.
They have tasted the nector of power and have permitted and allow-
In the annual testing of Kings
Mountain students in grades
kindergarten through nine, the
average scores led the 16 school
systems in Educational Region
VI in first grade reading, second
grade reading and mathematics,
anid tied for first place in grade
equivalent in third grade
reading, Assistant Superinten-
dent Howard Bryant announced
today.
Traditionally, Kings Moun-
tain has been low in grades six
and nine but those scores climb-
ed also, Bryant said. The sixth
grade reading scores were third
in the region and ninth grade
mathematics scores were sixth.

One of the goals of
‘to * develop
readiness to read by the end of
the year, Bryant noted. Eighty-
one percent of the kindergarten
students achieved that goal.
The tests in grades four, five,
seven and eight were given local-
ly and may be compared to na-'
tional tests rather than Region
VI. Kings Mountain students
average scores were ahead of the
nation in all tests except eighth
grade math, Bryant said.
“The students and their
teachers should be praised for
the success of their work on this
year’s standardized tests,” he

ed themselves to become blinded that all glitters is gold. And this is the
main reason that amendment one was defeated; in their failure to get
out among the voting populance with their preconceived assumption
that those back home care less; but the voters have shown otherwise.
Just perhaps this will open the eyes and ears of those within our own
city administration that when enough is enough; that change must and
will come about and those within the present city administration will
awaken to the facts of life. They haven’t been fooling anyone.
It’s time the elected officials of our own city snap out of their stuper
and recognize that the citizens who they are supposed to represent—the
voters—are fed up with all the lieing and misrepresentation of the
elected of our city administratin.
