SE Se a da a ai a CEE KM Students In Program High school students from across North Carolina were on the campus of North Carolina State University last week get- ting an introduction to engineer- ing programs at the university through the School of Engineer- ing’s Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE) program. The program has brought ap- proximately 400 rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to the campus since the middle of June. It is sponsored by the engineering school’s Undergraduate Student Services Division. The week-long workshop ses- sions included demonstration classes, laboratory projects, in- teraction with engineering students and faculty, and infor- mal campus living and learning experiences. Engineering fields covered in the program are mechanical, aerospace, electrical, civil, in- dustrial, materials and chemical. Byard Houck, director of the engineering school’s special pro- grams, is in charge of the SITE summer program. Assisting him as program coordinator is Cheryl Groves of Rockingham, an elec- trical engineering senior. The introduction will focus on the bodies’ response to stress. Those attending will have the opportunity to analyze their own stress level using the social readjustment rating scale. A strong emphasis will be placed on relaxation technique to effec- tively manage stress. A fee of ten dollars will be charged for the workshop.
