CROWDER OSCAR DAVIS (Gloria Denise Waters) Waters-Davis Couple Exchange Marriage Vows Gloria Denise Waters of Kings Mountain became the bride of Crowder Oscar Davis of Grover Saturday, October 17, in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. The couple pledged their wed- ding vows before the Rev. Mit- chell Pruitt. Mrs. Evelyn Bridges of Kings Mountain, organist and vocal soloist, presented a pro- gram of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of East Festival Friday East Elementary School will host a Halloween Fall Festival Friday at 5 p.m. at the school. The event, sponsored by the PTO, will include various games, face painting, bingo, a haunted house and other activities. The PTO will also sponsor a drawing for a Matel Intellivision game with a game cartridge in- cluded. Tickets will be available at East Friday night. The draw- ing will be held in the lunchroom at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the lunchroom. A hot dog, drink and potato chips will sell for $1.25 or may be purchased separately. Homemade cakes, cookies and pies will also be available. Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Waters of Route 2, Falls Drive, Kings Mountain. She is a 1980 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is employed by Fasco Industries of Shelby. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Davis of Route 1, Box 392, Grover. He isa 1979 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is employed by Bi-Lo’s of Shelby. The bride’s father escorted her to the altar and gave her in mar- riage. She wore a bridal gown fashioned of chantilly lace, featuring a Queen Anne neck and empire silhouette. The gown had a satin ribbon at the waist and full sleeves. It extended into a chapel train. The veil was fingertip length with ‘matching lace and pearl appliques. The bride’s aunt, Trudy Bridges of Kings Mountain, serv- ed as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tina Green of Kings Mountain and Glenda Dyke, the groom’s sister, of Cramerton. Lacelle McLeymore of Kings Mountain was flowergirl. Harvey Reel of Shelby served as best man. Ushers were the bride’s brother, Scott Waters of Gastonia, and the groom’s cousin, Bobby Goforth of Cramerton. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained at a reception in the church fellowship hall. The newlyweds are at home at 314 Elizabeth Avenue, Shelby. FRANK HERNDON Frank Herndons Note 50th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. W. Frank Hern- don were honored with a 50th wedding anniversary reception Sun., Oct. 24 in the chapel of Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Herndons were married on October 26, 1932. The reception was hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Herndon and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Herndon of Kings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs. Coyt Herndon of Shelby. Over 150 guests attended. Members of the wedding party present were Mrs. Hugh Dover, niece of the groom, who was an attendant, and Miss Oree Ran- dall, who was the organist. The chapel was beautifully decorated with ferns, yellow and white daisies, yellow roses and gypsophila. Corsages and boutonniers were of those same flowers and orchids. Among the pictures displayed was the wedding dress of an Ex- -cella pattern-Mrs. Herndon and ‘her thotheér “made” for’ her ‘wed- ‘and Mrs. Charles Owens. ding. Her anniversary dress was a blue polyester, pleated with long sleeves, a pleated peplum and a ruffled neck. Mr. Herndon wore a navy blue pin-striped suit.
