decorating contest, which was
held Monday. The pumpkins
were displayed at Monday
night’s PTO-sponsored fall
festival.

IT'S A GIRL - Michell Dawn
Greene was born September
14. She weighed eight
pounds and 7% ounces. She
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Danny Greene of Iron-
ton, Ohio. Grandparents are
the late Mr. and Mrs. Franze
Greene of Kings Mountain
and the late: Rufus Barrnett
and Nellie Barrnett, also of
Ironton. Michell is the first
granddaughter in 16 years in
the Greene family. She has
two brothers, the late Daniel
Kristopher and Ryan Keith of
the home.

BAZAAR
Ebenezer Baptist Church Mis-
sionary Group will sponsor a
holiday bazzar Saturday from 9
am. until 3 p.m. at the Kings
Mountain Depot. Macrame,
handcrafted dolls, Christmas
wreaths, palcemats, napkins,
Christmas ornaments,
homemade candy, baked goods
and many other items will be
sold. The project will benefit
senior citizens and needy
families.

Council observed its 10th an-
niversary celebration at 3 p.m.
October 17 at Bynum Chapel
AME. Zion Church in Kings
Mountain. .
Rev. Victor L. Carson was
host pastor. Over 500 people at-
tended and heard the speaker,
Mrs. Beatrice F. Bennett of
Gethsemane A.M.E. Zion
Church of Charlotte. Her theme
was “Working Together in Uni-
ty.” :
Mrs. Lestina McDowell serv-
ed as Mistress of Ceremony.
Presiding Elder Rev. S.I. Cle-
ment led the Call to Worship;
Mrs. Betty Howell read the
Scripture; Mrs. Mildred Hewitt
led a prayer; City Commissioner
Jim Childers welcomed the
guests; William Hager introduc-
ed the speaker; Carl Bennix and
the Charlotte District Choir sang
special selections and William
Orr, Lay District President,
recognized special guests and
presented awards.
Revival services will be held
November 3-7 at 7 p.m. nightly
(6 p.m. Sunday) at First Church
of the Nazarene, 407 South
Cherokee Street, Kings Moun-
tain. Rev. Opal Stone is the
evangelist. The public is invited.

Church Sun., Oct. 31 at 3 p.m.
Presiding will be Rev. S.I. Cle-
ment, who presides over 25
AME. Zion ministers in the
Lincolnton district. He will in-
troduce the two ministers who
will deliver sermons—Brother
Ronnie Stinson of St. Peters
Zion Church of Gastonia, and
Sister Evelyn Beard of Vestibule
Zion Church of Kings Moun-
tain.
Rev. Ben Byers, pastor of
Doggetts Grove Zion Church in
Forest City, and Rev. M.L.
Walton, pastor of Zion Hill Zion
Church in Henrietta, will have
their choirs to come and serve in
the singing at the convention,
uniting with the Youngs Chapel
Ensemble under the direction of
Edward Freeman. This group
was organized by the Rev. John
W. Holmes, pastor of Youngs
Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in
Mooresboro.
A District School for Local
Preachers and other workers in
the Lincolnton District will be
held Saturday, starting at St.
Peters Zion Church in Gastonia
from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
Heading the school will be the
Rev. John W. Holmes.
