Pick streets that you know well and are well lighted. —Tell your family in which part of the city you will be trick or treating. —Cross streets only at cor- ners. Never cross betweeen park- ed cars or in the middle of the block. — Wait until you get home to sort, check and eat your treats. — Children should carry a white shopping bag to collect their treats. According to an Agricultural Extension Service this adds to their visibility and leaves arms free. Parents must acknowledge the new threat to trick or treaters and learn to defend their children against it. Children should be taught safety precau- tions berore they go out on Halloween night. Material on Halloween safety is available from several law enforment agencies and fire departments in Cleveland County. Schools, Church and other community groups can be of valuable service by organizing Halloween parties for young people that would discourage them from walking the streets with their treat bags. “EXPERIENCED BUSINESSMAN _ October 31-November 4 at Se- cond Baptist Church.
