Page 2B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, November 4, 1982 It's Been A Fun Year Fearless Swan Song; Picks Locals To Win By FEARLESS Fearless closes out his annual fall football frolics this week with a pretty respectable record after nine of the 10 football Fridays of 61-16 following a mark of 8-3 last week. And we’ll close out with a few more frolics. “I’m worried about my son’s health.” “What’s he got?” “A motorcycle.” A good beginning and a good ending make a-good spech if they come close together. I have a rug that looks so terri- ble that I usually just sweep it under the dirt. The landlord was laying down the law to the town drunk. “I’ll give you two days to pay the rent,” warned the property owner. “Shay, thatsh schwell,” answered the drunk. “I’ll take the Fourth of of July and Christmas.” All teeth will remain white if they are properly cared for. For instance, I never drink hot drinks, always brush my teeth morning and night and avoid all acids. That is all I do, barring the fact that I put them in a glass of soft water each and every night. I said to Buzz Merritt the other day, “I think I have a cold or something in my head.” “It must be a cold,” said Buzz. “I can see this watch at night.” “Oh, a radium dial?” “No. A flashlight goes with ik The mosquito was discovered by the man who was discovered by the mosquito. The diamond is the hardest mineral in the world...to get. “That perfume costs $30 an ounce. Here, smell it.” “Give me fifty cents’ worth.” “Lady, you just had fifty cents’ worth.” On the local scene Friday night, South Point and East Gaston close out their seasons. South Point entertains Chase, while East Gaston hosts Burns. Both the Raiders and the War- riors will notes...sez Fearless. I look for South Point to down the Trojans, 13-6, and for East Gaston to bump off Burns, 26-7. Some traditional battles take place Friday, such as Ashbrook vs. Hunter Huss, Kings Moun- tain vs. Shelby, and Clover vs. Y ork. Ashbrook is rolling along with an unbeaten season. I look for them to stay unbeaten and make it a 10-0 year with a 20-7 win over the Huskies. Kings Mountain, in the two games I covered and saw them play, looked like champions in beating East Gaston and South Point. Coach Dan Brooks might start asking me to cover all of his team’s games if I’m “a good luck charm.” I'll be covering South Point and Chase Friday for our General Publishing Company newspapers, but I’m still going to pick the Mountaineers in a 14-13 thriller over the Golden Lions. York and Clover always play “dillies.” Good games. I look for York to prevail, 20-14. And here’s how I see the other games: Crest 26, R-S Central 7; Bessemer City 32, Bunker Hill 12; West Lincoln 7, Cherryville 6; Lincolnton 28, South Iredell 7; Statesville 26, East Lincoln 6; and East Rutherford 14, North Gaston 7. They’ll put the football uniforms in mothballs next week for every team I’ve mentioned except Ashbrook. They’ll put me in mothballs next week too...un- til the fall of 1983. Have a good year. I've en- joyed it a lot this season. close on winning rN ; + Simular to Illustrations RCA Color Console GFR-768SR Remote Color Trak 2000 with on the Screen Channel & Time. 82 Channels. 52 Cable Ready Channels.
