The Kings Mountain girls kept their conference record unblemished with a 6144 vic- tory and the Mountaineers snap- ped back from Tuesday night’s loss to unbeaten Crest with a 75-66 win. The girls sport a 4-0 con- ference record and 6-1 overall mark. They resume play on January 4 at home against East Gaston. A victory by a Mountaineer in any one of the four matches would have given KMHS the cham- pionship. “They just out-wrestled us and took the championship away ++ from us,” Coach Moffitt said. Two Mountaineers won first places. Farris Turner took the ti- tle at 112 pounds and Tommy Welch won the 167-pound divi- sion. Second places for KM includ- ed Tim Hamrick at 105 pounds, Calvin Goode at 119,Jimmy Watkins at 132 and David Parker at 155. John Fleming finished third at 98 pounds, Clinton Graham was third at 195 and David Bradley was fourth at 145. ; The Mountaineers are now 1-1 in dual matches and have a first and second place finish in tournament actin.
