A two-car accident Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at King Street and Cleveland Avenue resulted in damages to both vehicles and two electric signs at the Phillips 66 station. According to police, a 1975 Buick driven by Ruth B. Vickers of 809 Linwood Road collided with a 1973 Oldsmobile driven by Linda Railey of 933 Church Street. The Vickers car then struck two electric signs in the Phillips 66 lot, causing $7,500 damage to the signs. Damage to the Vickers car was $600 and the Railey car was damaged $300. Officer Dot Howell investigated. Police reported that a. car driven by James R. Pruett of 498 Bridges Drive struck a fire hydrant Friday at Downing Drive and Roxford Road. Damage to Pruett’s 1968 VW was $1,000 and damage to the fire hydrant was $125. Melvin E. White of 315 Fulton Drive reported to police - that someone backed into his car Saturday while it was parked on Pineview Street. Damage was $250. A car driven by David J. Pet- tis of Route 1 struck the rear of a car driven by Samuel Whitworth of 86 Pine Manor Saturday at York Road and Charles Street. Damage was $300 to each car. A car driven by Thomas Williams of Forest City backed into a car owned by Rodney Parker of Kings Mountain Saturday in the Hardee’s parking lot. Damage was $250 to Parker’s 1977 Pontiac and $50 to Williams’ 1969 Chevrolet. A car driven by Brian Conley Morrow of Dixon Drive struck a utility pole Monday on Fulton Road at Princeton Drive. Mor- row told police that he was traveling west on Fulton Road and met a car which was on the wrong side of the road. Morrow said he turned to his left to avoid hitting the car and struck the utility pole. Damage to Morrow’s 1979 Ford was $350. Damage to the pole was $350 and damage to the yard of Melinda Craig’s residence at 201 Fulton Road was $50. Name Harry Perry of 108 North Watterson Street reported the theft of a vacuum, valued at $450. Tammy Clewis of 817 Apline Drive reported the theft of a $150 stereo. The Holiday Inn reported an attempted breaking, entering and larceny. According to the police, a burglar alarm sounded and the suspect ran. Joe McDaniel of 221 Waco Road reported a breaking, enter- ing and larceny of furniture and miscellaneous items. Harold Ledford of 114 Water, Oak Street reported that his boat shed was damaged by children. Hiawatha Parker of Land- mark Apartments reported that someone broke into her apart- ment and stole a $200 stereo. Merita Jackson of 524 Baker Street reported that someone shot a hole in the glass on her front porch. Eric Faust of 107 East King Street reported than a window KM Fire Department To Sponsor Wrestling The Kings Mountain Fire Department will sponsor Eastern Championship wrestling March 12 at 8 p.m. at the Kings Moun- tain National Guard Armory. Heavyweight, midget and "women matches are on the card. The main event will be a lumberjack street match, featur- ing Black Angel and Rusty Roberts. Tag team matches will feature Mark Davis and Cowboy Young against the Islanders I and II, and Daney Jackson and Paul Anderson against the En- forcers. Jim Rodes and Mike Ivey will battle in a Russian chain match. A women’s match will pit Cin- dy Kay against Lady Tomahawk and in a midget battle, Joe Goin will face Bad Boy Dula. Advance tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children and are available at the Kings Moun- tain Fire Department. Tickets at the door will be $6 for adults and $3 for children. Dye, Bowen Teams Winners In Bowling Johnny Dye’s and Wimp Bowen’s teams were big winners “in‘Mixed-Duckpin League Bowl- ing action Tuesday night at the ; Dilling Heating Lanes. DEACONS WIN The Deacons and the Sinners were winners in Church League Bowling action Thursday at the Dilling Heating Lanes. The Deacons won four games off the Disciples. Danny McAbee led the way with a 120 line and 315 set. Larry Hamrick had a 128 line and 294 set for the Disciples. Jerry Barrett scored a 127 line and 338 set to lead the Sinners to a 3-1 victory over the Holy Rollers. Jerry Blanton added a 115-315 for the winners. Danny Dilling had a 135 line and 310 set for the Holy Rollers. HAMRICK WINS Kings Mountain High wrestler Tim Hamrick won a berth in this week’s state tourna- ment by finishing second in the 98-pound division of the Regional wrestling tourney last week in Kannapolis. Hamrick, who sports a 22-3 record, won two close matches before losing the championship on an 8-0 decision to Kevin Weisner of North Davidson. He opened the tourney with a tough 8-6 overtime victory over Mickey Frye of Gastonia Ashbrook. The edged David Winfred of South Iredell 8-7 in the semi-finals.
