March 24, 1983 — Rippy’s Jewelry Break-In Nets $2,400 Thieves broke into Rippy’s Jewelry on North Piedmont Avenue last week and stole wat- ches and rings valued at $2,400. Numerous other breakings and enterings and larcenies were reported by Kings Mountain: police during the past week. Shirley Duncan of 76 Pine Manor reported the larceny of a clock, valued at $19.95. Someone broke into a dollar changer at the Kings Mountain Car Wash on York Road. Wreches were also reported stolen. TG&Y reported the shoplif- ting of $25 worth of clothes. Jimmy Teal of 807 Third Street reported the theft of a $250 camera from his car. Nora Humphries and Arnold Blanton reported items stolen from their cars while they were parked at Piedmont Baptist Church on Benfield Road. Blan- ton reported the theft of a $20 baseball glove and Humphries reported the larceny of 44 boxes of M&M candy, valued at $22. William T. Rhodes of 317 Ellis Street reported that $100 was stolen from his pant’s pocket. : Winn Dixie reported the theft of a kerosene heater, valued at $150. Barbara Ormand of 330 Westover Drive reported a check book and $300 stolen from her car while it was parked at St. Three Accidents Reported By Police City police reported three traf- fic accidents during the past week. : Cars driven by Bruce Young of 4875 Margrace Road and Jack Williams of Shelby collided Friday at the intersection of Margrace Road and Cloninger Street. Damages were $100 to Williams’ 1972 Dodge and $200 to Young’s 1970 Chevy. Cars driven by Lucy Jonas of 802 Jackson Street and Donnie Hobbs of Shelby collided Satur- day at 9:03 a.m. at East King Street and Cleveland Avenue. Both drivers told police they had the green light. Damages were $800 to Jonas’s 1973 Ford and $1,200 to Hobbs’ 1982 Chevrolet. A car driven by Iva Frady of Gastonia struck a GMC truck driven by Mark Champion of 1013 Brookwood Drive Satur- day at 2:57 p.m. on Woodside Drive. Damages were $600 to Frady’s 1969 Ford and $2,000 to Champion’s truck.
