Page 2A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday. April 7, 1983 OBITURRIES BEATRICE HUCKABEE Beatrice: Crump Huckabee, 59, of 801 Princeton Drive, died Wednesday at her home. She was the daughter of Evie Panther Crump of Monroe and the late Sam Crump. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, John J. Huckabee of Winter Gardens, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Hall of Bessemer City, Mrs. Gail Holland of Apopka, Fla., Mrs. Crystal Grigg of Gastonia and Mrs. Betty Erby of Kings Moun- tain; three sons, Marvin Huckabee of Dallas and John Huckabee Jr. and Kenny Huckabee of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Cordie Rape, Mrs. Sarah Hargette and Mrs. Ann Hinson of Monroe; two brothers, Frank Crump of Con- cord and Tom Crump of Monroe; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Gastonia by the Rev. David L. Scruggs. Graveside services were con- ducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hill Cemetery in Monroe by the Rev. Sidney Lanier. EDWARD HIPP Edward Hipp, 72, of 47 Chesterfield Court, died Friday at 5:15 p.m. at Kings Mountain Hospital following several weeks illness. A Spartanburg, S.C., native, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Irvin Hipp. He was a retired scrap iron and metal employee. He is survived by his wife, An- ‘nie Cox Hipp; a son, Gerald Hipp of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Mrs. Alphild Johnson of Kings Mountain; a brother, Alfred Hipp of Greer, S.C.; three sisters, Naomi Griffin of Lyman, S.C., Myrtle Chandler of Fair Forest, S.C., and Mae Fleming of Kings Mountain; seven grand- children; and nine great- grandchildren. Services were conducted Tues- day at 3:30 p.m. at East Gold Street Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Leroy Cox. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A 1.P, OH lr Joseph Pinkney Hord, 64, of Route 3, Kings Mountain, died Sunday at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. A Cleveland County native, he was the son of the late Joseph Pinkney and Louise Wright Hord and was a retired employee of the North Carolina Depart- ment of Transportation in Dallas. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and former chairman of the board of deacons. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Bess Hord of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Myra Car- son of Gastonia, and Ms. Mar- tha Mode and Mrs. Brenda Haynes of Kings Mountain; four brothers, Charles Hord of Kan- 4 Neha napolis, and Paul Hord, Dwight Hord and James Hord, all of Shelby; and three grandchildren. Services were conducted Tues- day at 4 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Silver and Chaplain Jack H. Cooke. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church. HORACE MAUNEY Horace David Mauney, 52, of 211 Katherine Avenue, Kings Mountain, died Saturday at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Guss and Hester Cook Mauney and was a self-employed truck driver. He is survived by four brothers, Ernest and David Mauney of Kings Mountain, William Mauney of St. Louis, Mo. and Lester Mauney of Col- umbia, S.C.; and two sisters, Mrs. George (Ada) Barrett and Mrs. Betty Robbs of Kings Mountain. Services were conducted Mon- day at 4 p.m. at Interdenomina- tional Holiness Church by the Rev. Odes Webb. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. IVA DAVIS Iva Nelms Davis, 84, of 823 Ramseur Street, died Monday at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Graham County, she was tne daughter of the late Houston Hill and Hester Rich Nelms. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- Worlds ves band, David Andrew Davis; two sons, David Davis of Deltona, Fla, and Nathan Davis of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda Hodge of Kings Moun- tain; two sisters, Mrs. Odum Hayes of Gastonia and Mrs. Pol- ly Williams of Robbinsville; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gerry Davis. Burial will be in Moun- tain Rest Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home. KENNETH GREEN Thomas Kenneth Green, 55, of 6130 Midpines, died Monday. ‘He was a retired textile employee. Survivors include one son, Bobby Green of Kings Moun- tain; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Linda) Allmond of Kings Moun- tain; four brothers, Randall Green of Rocky Mount and Otis, Opal and Donald Green, all id Lig of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Grigg and Mrs. Flo Beverley of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Margaret Weal of Gastonia. Services will be conducted Thursday at Foursquare Gospel Church by the Rev. Oscar Stalcup, the Rev. Roy Clark and the Rev. Fred Wells. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
