This event, popular with children and adults, will be held on Saturday, May 7, at Lineberger Park, located on Gar- rison Blvd. in Gastonia. It will begin at 10 a.m. and last through the afternoon. “May Day in the Park” features live entertainment all day, with cloggers, clowns, a pro- fessional magician and the live band “Stony Point”. Many booths will offer a wide variety of items for sale, such as baked goods, crafts, plants, hot dogs and ice cream sundaes. Lots of games and activities are planned for the kids, with toys and prizes. The rain date for the event will be Sunday, May 8, beginn- ing at 1 pm. Barry Lineberger Receives ROTC Awards Air Force ROTC Cadet Barry M. Lineberger received 'the Military Order of the World Wars Silver Medal and the Air Force ROTC Academic Achievement Honors Ribbon during ceremonies April 24 at North Carolina State University. Meeks Tours France Vaughne S. Meeks recently returned from a four-week vaca- tion in France. While there, he visited Paris, Chez Grande Francoise, Ver- sailles, Chateau of Loire, Giverne Franco, the Monet Gardens, and the Italian Rivera, where he spent a week at the races in Monaco and the Grand Prix festivities.
