Page 2A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, July 7. 1983 OBITURRIES MRS. ILA PITTS GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mrs. Ila Wright Goforth Pitts, 91, widow of the late John W. Pitts of 612 Beach Street, Gaffney, died Monday at Cherokee Memorial Hospital. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Wilson of Spartanburg and Mrs. Bossie Jones of Gaffney; four sons, Carl and Ben Goforth, both of Kings Mountain, Delbert Goforth of Columbia and Ralph Goforth of Grover; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Edwards of Blacksburg; and one brother, James Wright of Rockhill. Funeral Services will be con- ducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jesse Johnson. Bural will be in Fredrick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home. CHRISTOPHER STETLER Christopher Harleigh Huff- stetler, three-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lee Huff- stetler Jr. of Kings Mountain, died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Tripp Huffstetler of the home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Huffstetler Sr. of Kings Mountain; and his mater- nal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Whiteside of Kings Mountain. Graveside services were con- ducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Plonk. HUFF- W.H. GOFORTH William Harvey Goforth, 65, of Grover, died Sunday at 1:15 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A Cleveland County native, he was the son of Henry Grady Goforth of Grover and the late Fannie Lanier Goforth. His wife was the late Lena Mae Hardin Goforth. He was retired as a self- employed upholsterer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons, James Delmar Goforth, Ray Goforth rand Vernon Goforth, all of Grover; two daughters, Mrs. Max (Reba) Cochrane and Mrs. Donna Holman of Grover; two brothers, Robert Goforth of Lenoir and James Goforth of Shelby; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Holman of Newton, Mrs. Mar- tha McCall of Granite Falls, and Mrs. Vera Dula of Lenoir; 12 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Services were conducted Tues- day at 11 a.m. at Harris Funral Home Chapel by the Rev. Rudolph Lemmons and the Rev. Flay Payne. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. MARIE GILL SHELBY - Mrs. Marie Byars Gill, 67, of 801 Davis Road, died Friday at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. : A Cleveland County native, she was a member of New Ellis Chapel Baptist Church, where services were conducted Tues- day at 3 p.m. by the Rev. A.A. Ponder. Burial was in Webb Memorial Gardens. She is survived by her hus- band, Walter Gill; four sons, Bil- ly Gill of Kings Mountain, Aaron H. Gill, Thurman Gill and Raymond Jed Gill of Shelby; a daughter, Roberta Gill of the home; a brother, Esau Gill of High Point; two sisters, Ovita Mocks of High Point and Bertie Gill of Kannapolis; six grand- children and one great- grandchild. ROBERT LEDBETTER SHELBY - Robert Smith Ledbetter, 82, of 1129 Bridges Street, died Wed., June 29 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital after a three-week illness. A Cleveland County native, he was the son of the late Henry and Julia Crowder Ledbetter. He was a retired superintendent of twisting at Lily Mill Company and was a member of the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church and the Lily Old Timers Club. Surviving are his wife, Laura Gettys Ledbetter; two sons, W. Dwight Ledbetter of Kings Mountain and R. Grover. Ledbetter of Centre, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruby Wright of Shelby; two brothers, Marshall Ledbetter and Arthur Ledbetter of Shelby; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Blanton and Mrs. Nancy Dover of Shelby and Mrs. Mag- gie Bivins of Surfside, Beach, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were conducted Fri- day at 2:30 p.m. at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Blackburn and the Rev. Keys Pendleton. CHARLES DELLINGER LINCOLNTON - Charles Evans Dellinger, 73, of 522 North Flint Street, died June 28 in a Lincolnton Hospital. A Cleveland County native, he was the son of the late Let and Mary Lankford Dellinger and was a retired employee of Cochrane Furniture Company.
