The Boys Club Summer
Basketball League tournament is
underway this week and will be
followed by the allstar game
Saturday.
The second annual Chestnut
Ridge Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment softball tournament will be
held August 26-28 at the
Bessemer City softball field.
Entry fee is $70 and two Blue
Dot softballs. Entry fee is tax
deductible.
Any teams interested in play-
ing should contact Rick Franklin
at 629-5558 after 5 p.m. or call
Cindy Milling at 739-5853.
Regular season action ended
last week with the 76ers taking
first place with an 8-3 record.
They were followed by the
Hawks 74, Lakers 6-5, Bucks
4-7 and Rockets 3-8.
The club’s Boy of the Month
for July was Otis Brooks.
The 9-10 year old pool cham-
pion for July was Lamar Burris.
The fall schedule for the Boys
Club beginning August 16 will
be Tuesday and Thursay from
48 p.m. and Saturday from 9
a.m. until 3 p.m.
The Boys Club trip to Clem-
son is scheduled for September 3.
The cost will be $6 per member.

several years in Caldwell County
