Wells-White Couple Exchange Marriage Vows
Linda Linette. Wells became
the bride of Bryon Harlan White
Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bethlehem
Baptist Church.
Rev. Samuel Murphy of-
ficiated. Mrs. Randy McDaniel
was organist for a program of
nuptial music. Miss Sandra
Wells, the bride’s cousin, was
vocalist.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wells of
Kings Mountain, and the grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Wells of Kings Mountain
and the late Mr. and Mrs. An-
drew Watterson. She his the
great-granddaughter of Mrs.
Eula Ledford of Kings Mountain
and the late Clarence T. Led-
ford. She is a 1983 graduate of
Kings Mountain High School
and is employed in the emergen-
cy room at Kings Mountain
Hospital.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. James White of Kings
Mountain, and the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cook of
Shelby and Mrs. Mary Lee
White and the late Milford
White. He is a 1979 graduate of
Kings Mountain High School
and is employed by Duke Power
Brodnax Couple Speak Vows
First Wesleyan Church in
Kings Mountain was the setting
for the August 20 wedding of
Kathy Mae Stamey and Dr.
Scott Walter Brodnax. The Rev.
Dwight Edwards officiated in
the 2 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stamey of
Kings Mountain. She is a
graduate of Kings Mountain
High School and Gaston Col-
lege.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Brodnax of
Kings Mountain. He is a
graduate of Kings Mountain
High School, Gaston College
and Sherman College of
Chiropractic in Spartanburg,
S.C. He is an associate of Dr.
Ron Sisk in Blacksburg, S.C.
Mrs. Sheryl Meacham, sister
of the groom, was Matron of
Honor. Bridesmaids were Phyllis
Stamey, sister of the bride, from
Kings Mountain, Elyn Lackey of
Kings Mountain, Lisa Raby of
Kings Mountain and Dianne
Williams of Kings Mountain.
Flower girls were Michelle
Kaylor of Kings Mountain and
Leslie Kuban of Atlanta,
Ga.,both nieces of the groom.
Ring bearer was Chuck
Kaylor of Kings Mountain,
nephew of the groom.
The groom’s father was best
man. Ushers were Dr. Sam Brod-
nax, brother of the groom from
Atlanta, Ga., Rick Deaton of
" Maiden, Jimmy Turner of Kings
Mountain and Jonie Blanton of
Kings Mountain.

ENGAGED - James and Zonie Hamilton of Route 5, Kings
Mountain, announce the engagement of their daughter, Janice
Anne, to Mark Anthony Burris, son of Oscar Burris of Gastonia
and the late Virginia Burris. The bride-to-be is a 1974 graduate
of Kings Mountain High School and a 1976 honor graduate of
Cleveland Tech. She is employed by Kings Mountain District
Schools. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Hunter
Huss High School. He is employed by Smyre Mills and Gaston
County Schools. A September 24 wedding is planned at Mount
Pleasant Baptist Church in Bessemer City.

Chili
Challenge
Scheduled

and the Gastonia Gazette York
Chester Road Race is coming
up.
The reward is $600 in cash
prizes.
It’s slated for Sunday, Oct. 1
at the Gastonia YMCA from 1
p.m. until 3 p.m.
For the Coors Chili Challenge,
contestants must supply stove
(electricity not provided), cook-
ing utensils, and provide supplies
to serve the public.
A minimum of two quarts of
chili must be made. Every ingre-
dient must be fresh - no pre-
made sauces or mixes. The ap-
plication fee is $10.

REVIVAL
Revival services will begin
Sunday at East Kings Mountain
Church of God on Highway 161
north. Evangelist will be the
Rev. Larry Hunt. Services will
begin at 7 p.m. nightly. The
public is invited to attend.

The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father. She wore a
formal gown made by her pater-
nal grandmother, Mrs. Harold
Wells. The gown was white peau
de soie overlaid with chiffon,
which was enhanced by seed
pearls and scallops of chantilly
lace. Her fingertip veil of illusion
was attached to a circular band
which had been covered with
white silk flowers. She carried a
bouquet of white lavender silk
flowers and lavender streamers
of satin ribbon.
She chose her sister, Miss
Deborah Wells, as maid of
honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Tim Spicer, cousin of the bride,
Mrs. Mary Ann Barrett, sister of
the groom, and Mrs. Debbie
McAbee.
The bride’s cousin, Brett
Wells, was the ringbearer. Sum-
mer Crisp was flowergirl.
James White was his son’s
best man. Ushers were David
Bolton, Ricky Proctor and Ron-
nie Wilson. Brandon White,
brother of the groom, distributed
programs. Mrs. Steve Wells, the
bride’s aunt, attended the guest
register. Mrs. Roy Herndon
directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, the
bride’s parents hosted a recep-
tion in the church chapel. The
lavender and white theme was
accented in the decorations
details and refreshemnts.

Miss Linda Wells, whose wed-
ding to Bryon White was an
