Miss Wright is the daughter of
Mrs. George L. Wright of Route
2, Kings Mountain, and the late
Mr. Wright. She plans to pursue
a career in business.
At KMHS,; she is active in the
Beta Club, National Honor
Society, cheerleading, tennis,
chorus, SPO, French Club,
FCA, band and powder puff
football. She was a Top Ten var-
sity cheerleader, attended the
Mars Hill Choral Clinic, All-
State Choral Clinic and Math
Contest at UNC-Greensboro.
She was on the Junior-Senior
steering committee and is a
member of the Pep Club.
Miss Plonk is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William Lawrence
Plonk of Route 3, Kings Moun-
tain. She is employed part-time
as'a waitress at Tria’s Italian
Restaurant.
At KMHS, she is a member of
the National Honor Society,
Beta Club, , SPO, VICA, Pep
Club, Drama Club, and French
Club. She was in the top 10 of
her sophomore and junior
classes and represented KMHS
in Girls State in 1983. She is a
varsity cheerleader, was on the
junior-senior steering committee
and attended the Presidential

was a junior marshal and won a
Top Ten award. She was her
junior class representative,
senior class vice-president, win-
ner of the World History Award,
Who’s Who Among American
High School Students, and was
selected to attend North
Carolina-Close Up and the
Broyhill Academy.
Miss McCoy is the daughter
of Quint and Nancy McCoy of
Grover. She works parttime at
Medi-Fare Drug Center in
Blacksburg. She hopes to
become a pediatrician.

The classes are open to the
public. College credit will not be
given for the completion of the
. courses but a certificate of par-
ticipation will be awarded to
students who complete four full
evenings of study. :
The Bible study entitled, “The
! Life and Teachings of Jesus,”

will begin on Tuesday,
: September 6 and will conclude
‘on October 4.
i Classes will be held each Tues-
‘day night from 7 p.m. until 9
p.m. in the seminar room of
| Gardner-Webb’s Dover Library.
Teaching the Bible course will
be Dr. Robert Lamb, professor
of religion and religious educa-
tion at G-W. Lamb holds a
‘bachelor’s degree from Stephen
.F. Austin State College and both
a master’s degree in religious
education and a doctorate in
education from Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary.
According to Lamb, the
course is designed for people
who are serious about knowing
what the Bible really means. The
course will cover the birth, death
and resurrection of Jesus, as well
as the sources of the Gospel and
a discussion of what life was like
during biblical times.
The cost of the five-week long
courses will be $15. Registration
will be held on the first night of
classes from 6:30 until 7 p.m.
The music study entitled,
“Basic Music,” will begin on
Thursday, September 8 and will
conclude on October 6.
Classes will be held each
Thursday night from 7 p.m. until
9 p.m. in Gardner-Webb’s O.

Teaching the music course
will be Dr. Phil Perrin, professor
of music at G-W. Perrin holds a
bachelor’s degree in music
education from the University of
Tennessee and both a master’s of
music and a doctorate of musical
arts from the Southwestern Bap-
tist Theological Seminary.
The cost of the five-week long
course will be $15 for an in-
dividual $10 per person if five or
more students from one church
enroll. Registration will be held
on the first night of classes from
6:30 until 7 p.m.

School and won a special drama
award for debate. She plays
powder puff football, is among
the top 10 in her class, was a

She is a Girl Scout, Bible
School teacher at First Baptist
Church in Grover, serves in
youth and choir work and is a
Blood give-in volunteer. She par-
ticipates in the Puppeteers and
directs the Music Makers Choir
(1-3 grades).
Miss Allen is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allen of
Route 2, Kings Mountain. She
works part-time as a lifeguard at
Kings Mountain Country Club.
She plans a career in either com-
puter science, business or music
education.
At KMHS, she is a pianist for
the high school chorus, member
of the Student Council, captain
of the varsity cheerleading
squad, statistician for the track
team and a member of the FCA,
Red Cross Club, Spanish Club,

valescent Center.

Club, volleball, forensics,
magazine sale and the tutoring
program. She was a Governor’s
School nominee and a Cleveland
County Youth Talent Contest
winner.
SHOW AND DANCE
The Kings Mountain
American Legion will sponsor a
show and dance August 27. The
Original Drifters will perform. A
limited number of advanced
tickets are available for $8 per
person. Tickets at the door will
be $10 per person. For advanced
tickets, call or go by the Legion.
REUNION
The 31st annual Dedmon-
Weathers family reunion will be
held Sun., Aug. 28 at Ross
Grove Baptist Church in Shelby.
There will be a business meeting
at noon followed by a picnic
lunch under the oaks at the old
church. Everyone is invited to
attend and bring a picnic basket.
