t sy Page 10A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday. September 15, 1983 Fair To Open Sept. 30 The annual Cleveland County Fair will open on Friday, September 30 for a nine-day run. General admission tickets are $2.50 for adults, 50° for children 6 to 12, and children under 6 are admitted free. Parking is free. All public school children in this sec- tion will receive one free ticket which may be used on either of the designated school days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday); also they will receive a ticket which will enable them to purchase a student ticket at the gate for one-half price which may be used on any one day of the fair. Fair Manager Joe Goforth has announced that senior citizens, ages 65-74, will be admitted to the fairgrounds every day for one-half price, and those 75 years of age and over will be ad- mitted free. An outstanding grandstand program has been lined up for the 1983 fair. The North Carolina Tractor Pull Associa- tion will present a Tractor Pull at 7:30 p.m. on October 1, and again at 2:00 p.m. on October 2. A Demolition Derby is schedul- ed for 7:30 on September 30 and on October 3. The Christy Lane Show will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on October 4. The Joie Chitwood Thrill Show is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Oc- tober 5 and 6. Championship High School Rodeo will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Oc- tober 7 and 8th. Bowling Underway Winter League duckpin bowl- ing action began Tuesday at the Dilling Heating Lanes, with Johnny Dye’ team winning three of four games from Wimp Bowen and Jerry Barrett and John Dilling splitting a four- game set. Dye led his team with a 133 line and 347 set and Sara Cash had a 319 set. Stan Barrett led the losers with a 91 line and 253 set. Charity Tignor had a 136 line and 331 set and John Dilling ad- ded a 125-353 to lead Dilling’s team. R.W. Hullender led Bar- rett’s team with a 122 line and 332 set. PTO MEETING The Bethware PTO will hold its first meeting of the year Tues- day at 7 p.m. City Police Report Nine Traffic Accidents City police investigated nine traffic accidents during the past week. Cars driven by Cathy Johnson of 112 Stowe Acres and Aaron Sidney Dixon of Route 4 struck head-on Wednesday at 3:04 p.m. in the parking lot of Testa Chevrolet. Damage to Johnson’s 1979 Oldsmobile was $2,000. Damage to the 1983 Chevrolet truck driven by Dixon and own- ed by Testa Chevrolet, was $1,000. There was a three-vehicle acci- dent Friday at 8:35 a.m. on East King Street. A car driven by Charlie Junior Patrick of Route 4 struck a car driven by Donna Mabry of 103 Stowe Acres, causing her to strike a vehicle operated by Paul Bolt II of 304 Waco Road. Total damage was $250. A vehicle owned by Jerry Bagwell of 406 West Gold Street was stolen sometime Friday night at Kings Mountain High School and wrecked at 12:50 p.m. Saturday at Kings Moun- tain Junior High. Damage to the 1968 Ford was $600 and damage to a fence at the school was $200. A 1956 Dodge truck driven by James Dula of Lenoir struck a utility pole Saturday at 4:25 p.m. on West King Street. Damage to the truck was $350. An unknown driver struck a parked car owned by Leigh Ann Blanton of 610 Landing Street Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the park- ing lot of the West Gate Plaza. Damage was $300. An unknown vehicle struck a car driven by Alma Britton of Lenoir Sunday at 5:06 p.m. on North Piedmont. Damage was $200. Cars driven by Everette Thombs of 227 Lakewood Drive and Sheila Goode of 403 Brice Street collide Sunday at 7:40 p.m. on Sterling Drive. Damage to Goode’s car was $250 and damage to Thombs’ car was $1,500. A car driven by Christina Anne Kuehni of 114 Center Street struck a retainer wall at the parking lot at John Moss Lake Sunday at 8 p.m. Damage to the 1959 Chevrolet was $100. Damage to the wall was $300. Vehicles operated by Hazel Ollis of 614 Landing Stret and Sara Runyans of 1800 Margrace Road collided Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. on Cleveland Avenue.
