MRS. MARK ANTHONY BURRIS (Janice Anne Hamilton) Hamilton-Burris Couple Married In Bessemer City Janice Anne Hamilton of Kings Mountain and Mark An- thony Burris of Gastonia ex- changed their marriage vows Saturday in a 3 p.m. ceremony at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Bessemer City. Rev. Billy D. Houze, pastor of First Baptist Church in Lawndale, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. L.C. Knuckles, pastor of Mount Plea- sant Baptist Church in Bessemer City. Kevin Smith of Gastonia, Deloris Cole of Kings Mountain and Deborah McNeal of Bessemer City presented a pro- gram of wedding music. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Hamilton of Route 5, Kings Mountain and the grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thayer Thomas of Gastonia. She is a 1974 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1976 honor graduate of Cleveland Tech. She is employed by Kings Mountain District Schools. The groom is the son of Oscar Burris of 688 Newcastle Drive, Gastonia, and the late Virginia Burris. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed by A.M. Smyre Mills and Gaston County Schools. The bride was given in mar- riage by her brother, Robert McNeil of Bessemer City. She chose Mrs. Jeanette M. Ander- son of Davidson as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Vanessa Burris, sister of the BRIDGET SHARON HUTCHINS bridegroom, and Cynthia Hankerson, both of Gastonia; Alfredia McNeil, sister-in-law of the bride from Bessemer City; Sharon Allison and Faye Spriggs of Kings Mountain, and Carolyn Smith and Roberta McCluney, both of Shelby. Junior bridesmaid was Ava Currence of Gastonia. Mrs. Karen C. Houze of Grover attended the guest register. Child attendants were Kenya Houze of Grover and Carlos Leslie of Gastonia. The groom’s father served as best man. Ushers were Darrell Burris, ibrother: of. the bridegroom, and Randy Burris and Greg Floyd, both cousins of the groom, all of Gastonia; Blake Robbins Jr. of Kings Mountain, Donald Leslie, Tony Littlejohn, Chris Smith, and Donald Ramseur, all of Gastonia, and Robert McNeil, brother of ‘the bride, from Bessemer City. Mrs. Adelaide Allison - of Kings Mountain directed the wedding. The couple hosted their own reception following the wedding in the church fellowship hall. Assisting in serving wre Mrs. Rosalie Garvin of Kings Moun- tain, Mrs. Polly McKee and Ms. Doreatha Eury, both of Bessemer City, and Mrs. Kathleen Blake and Mrs. Aurelia Falls, both of Gastonia. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and is employed as promotions director of Forshaw Chemicals Inc. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School. Appalachian State University and N.C. State University. He is employed as a technical representative for Forshaw Chemicals Inc. STEVEN DARYL GLADDEN (Martha Jane Mauney) Mauney-Gladden Couple Exchange Marriage Vows Martha Jane Mauney and Steven Daryl Gladden were united in marriage September 24 in a 7 p.m. double-ring ceremony at Saint Matthews Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain. Rev. Harwood T. Smith, the bride’s pastor, officiated. Edith Morrow of Gastonia, organist, and Judy Rayfield Whisnant of Kings Mountain, vocalist, presented a program of wedding music. : The bride is the daughter of former North Carolina Senator and Mrs. William Kemp Mauney of 200 East Gold Street, Kings Mountain. She at- tended Gaston Day School in Gastonia and graduated with honors from Cleveland Technical College in Shelby. She also graduated from Interna- tional School of Beauty. a The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Furman Eugene Glad- den of Hillside Drive, Kings Mountain. He attended Kings Mountain District Schools and graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in chemistry. He is employed by American Cyanimid Corporation of Charlotte. The bride was given in mar- riage by her father. She wore a formal white satin gown, featur- ing a Queen Anne neckline edg- ed in Venice lace and long tapered sleeves of point-de-esprit marquisette with Venice lace ac- cents. The bodice of the empire line gown was patterned with Venice lace appliques and centered with a large medallion point-de-esprit. The A-line skirt and - attached cathedral train were bordered with scalloped point-de-esprit marquisette. The veil of English imported illusion was edged with point-de-esprit and lace appliques, and was held in place by a Juliet cap of mar- quisette and lace. She chose Ann Winters of Gastonia as her matron of honor and Lou Ann Alexander as her maid of honor.
