Buskirk, Vice Pro- vost of Theological and Spirtual Affairs and the founding Dean of the School of Theological at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. A prayer vigil will be held Saturday, October 15, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Dr. Buskirk will speak at wor- ship service Sunday at 11 a.m. Panel Discussion Scheduled The Pre-Engineering Depart- ment at Belmont Abbey College has planned a Panel Discussion consisting of five prominent engineers from the Charlotte area. The Panel Discussion, which will take place Thursday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Room 107 of the Gaston Science Building, is be- ing coordinated through the ef- forts of Steve Swartz, vice presi- dent of the Southeast Region of P.Q.A. Engineering Company in Charlotte and a part-time member of the Belmont Abbey College faculty. “We've assembled this panel to allow students who are aspir- ing engineers to test their goals and aspirations against the realities of the engineering market play,” Swartz said. Featured on the panel are Joe Stowe, director of Charlotte- Mecklenburg Utilities Depart- ment, who will speak on “Engineers in the Public Sector”; Jack Amar, a Geo-Technical engineer with Soil and Material Engineers, Inc., who will speak on “Geo-Technicians and Con- sulting Background’; Heyward Bellamy, with Heyward, Inc., whose topic will be “Engineers in Education and Engineering -Technical Sales”; Fred W. Klein of Trammel Crow Company, who will talk on “Property Developers,” and Thomas J. Kel- ly of the 1.BM. Corporation, who will speak on “Electrical Engineering.” The Panel Discussion is open to the public. Gary Sale Is Home Kings Mountain police officer Gary Sale, who was seriously in- jured in an automobile accident two weeks ago while answering a call, has been released from Charlotte Memorial Hospital and is recuperating at his home. Sale’s wife, Mary, issued a public thank you to the Kings Mountain community for its support during Sale’s hospitaliza- tion. “We would like to thank our friends, families and neighbors for their kindness, for the flowers, visits and especially their prayers shown during Gary’s accident and illness. May God richly bless each and every one of you,” she id. Shrine BBQ Sale Planned The White Plains Shrine Club will sponsor a barbecue sale Oc- tober 22. Tickets may be obtained from any member of the club. Whole shoulders will sell for $25 and barbecue plated and two sandwiches will be $3.50 each. Proceeds will go to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Greenville, S.C. IT'S A GIRL Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hughes of 120 Center Street, announce the birth of a daughter, Kelli Maria, September 28 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed six pounds, 10 ounces. She has two brothers, Chris and Todd. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dell- inger and great-grandmother is Gallie Lanier. Michael’s mother is the former Judy Dellinger. LEGION AUXILIARY The American Legion Aux- iliary will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the legion buidling. Melanie Ballard, guidance counselor of Kings Mounta Junior High School will have the program. Hostesses will be Judy Harmon and Margaret Wilson. and at evening services Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. A luncheon will be held Monday and Tuesday at 12 noon. There will be a time for refreshments and fellowship following Sunday night’s wor- ship service. Special Music will be presented. each night by the Chancel Choir and a nursery will be provided during all services. Dr. Buskirk was the first occu- pant of the Arthur J. Moore Chair of Evangelism at Candler School of Theology, Emorey University, prior to going to Oral Roberts University. As Dean of the School of Theology, Dr. Buskirk is involv- ed in the procurement of the faculty and staff, development of degrees and curriculums. He also preaches at many of the chapel and seminar programs on cam- pus. Dr. Buskirk has preached at Lake Junaluska at Jurisdictional and Laity Conference for all but one of the past 15 years.
