He was a retired employee of the U.S. Steel Corp. in Orange, Tex., a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Whetstone Masonic Lodge No. 515. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Guthrie Baldwin; three daughters, Oneta B. Hopper and Jana Peck of Gastonia and Bren- da Emory of Hickory Grove, S.C.; one brother, George Baldwin of Sillsbee, Tex.; and six sisters, Mae Shuford of Kings Mountain, Minnie Bess of Bessemer City, Margaret White of Matthews, Ella Todd of Gastonia, Beatrice Styers of Danville, Va., and Violet Dicker- son of Newport News, Va. Services were conducted Sun- day at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church by the Rev. A.A. Bailey. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. AVIS JONES ELLENBORO - Avis Louise Thompson Jones, 54, of Route 1, Ellenboro, died Tuesday at Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby. A native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William W. and Ocie Bivens Thompson was was employed by Dover Textiles. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Drury Robbins Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- band, Max D. Jones; a son, Don Jones of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald Hawkins of Ellenboro, Mrs. Mike Eaker of Shelby and Kim Chapman of Ellenboro; three brothers, Eugene Thompson of Cherryville, Vernon Thompson of Jonesville, S.C., and Glenn Thompson of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Mrs. Clifford Mc- Combs of Shelby, Mrs. Fred Brown of Hickory and Mrs. Gerald Newton of Casar; and eight grandchildren. Services, will be conducted " Thursday at 3 p.m. at Drury Dobbins Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Winebarger, the Rev. Dean Poteat, Dr. Wayne Blackwood and the Rev. Wade Dellinger. Burial will be in the church cemetery. MRS. WILBORNE THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Max- ine Millen Wilborne, 49, of Route 6, Hasty School Road, died Thursday at High Point Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. A Kings Mountain native, she was the daughter of Mrs. Zettie Deal Millen of Kings Mountain and the late William Robert Millen. She had been a Davidson County resident for the past 30 years and was employed by Wayne Industries in High Point. She was a member of Southgate Baptist Church, where she was active in the Adult Sunday School Clas and served as the church pianist. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Donald Wilborne Sr. of the home; two sons, Donald Wilborne Jr. of High Point and Terry Lee Wilborne of Thomasville; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Gregory of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Rosenell Mayhue, Mrs. Alma Gantt, Mrs. Doris Hardin and Mrs. Margaret Freeman, all of Kings Mountain; three CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank each and every person for their many ex- pressions of love and kindness shown during our bereavement. Memorials may be sent to the music program at Southgate Baptist Church. RAYMOND SCISM Raymond Paul Scism, 78, of Route 5, Kings Mountain, died Thursday at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was the retired owner of Scism’s General Store and was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hovis Scism; five sons, David Scism of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Paul Scism, Bruce Scism, Moffett Scism and Nolan Scism, all of Kings Mountain; a brother, Thurmond Scism of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Miss Ruth Scism and Miss Ollie Mae Scism, both of Kings Mountain; and nine grand- children. Services were conducted Sun- day at'3 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Plyler. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Patterson Grove Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
