Discounts
Postal Service customers who
order the 1984 National Five
Digit Zip Code and Post Office
Directory no later than
November 20, will receive a dis-
count, according to Postmaster
Fred Weaver.
By ordering a directory or
directories early, the postmaster
explained, customers will get
each for $8.00 instead of the
$9.00 they will cost when the
directories go on sale at the post
office in January. Early orders
also will result in direct mailing
of directories to customers from
the publisher in January, either
in single copy or cast lots.
In addition, Weaver said, a
$1.00 trade-in discount for old
directory covers is being offered,
and case lots will get one free
directory per case as a discount.
Order forms for the directories
are available at the Kings Moun-

Debbie Mauney Opens
Children’s ‘Castoff’ Shop
“Pete and Repete,”a children’s
shop which opened last week at
606 W. King Street, will offer
the yard sale alternative for
recycling children’s castoffs.
‘I’m excited about offering
the community a modern day
approach to ‘smaller family’
clothing distribution. I’ve tried
to create an atmosphere where
people can come in and brouse,
get somethimg new or different,”
stated Debbie Mauney, the store
owner.
By placing used children’s ar-
ticles such as clothing, toys,
athletic equipment, baby fur-
niture, and accessories in the
store on a consignment basis
mothers can usefully recycle
those children’s articles that are
left stored in garages and attics.
“Often sizes can jump two or
three times during a year’s ‘grow-
ing spurt’ and parents are left
with practically new clothing
and no immediate relatives or
friends of ‘that size to pass it. on
to. I'm offering a way to recoup
some of that investment,” Deb-
bie further stated.
The shop will also include ren-
tals of such items as car seats,
bassinets, and portable cribs on a
one week basis. “The rental
items will mainly be for out of
town guests, grandparents who
need a car seat for a weekend, or
new mom’s who would need a
bassinet for a short period.”
The shop will also have new
gift items, handmade crafts and
some new clothing. “I’ve tried to
create a shop that caters to my
needs as a mother. For example,
I plan to offer ready wrapped
children’s gifts for moms on their
way to a birthday party or for so-
holiday, A
its a
practical, long-lasting keepsake. One quick call
or visit to our shop sends it anywhere in the
country. Do it early. It'll be a welcome gift.

“Being aware of the growing
cost of children’s clothing, I feel
this approach will offer the com-
‘munity a quality selection of us-
ed but not abused items. I hope
the people will consider my
system and drop by or telephone
for more details.” she said in con-
